How many of y'all have fallen off the wagon already?

You'd think they'd make the things with seatbelts.

ANYWAY who's getting stuff done this weekend? Who's staring at the calendar making distressed sounds? Who's given up & taking a nap?

I'm getting over a cold, so step the first for me was 'do all the dishes & then take a damn nap'. I managed to haul myself outside & apply some caulk & paint, but that may be it for the day.

My seatbelt is called Habitica. My wagon's a big fluffy white wolf. Currently? Little bit of writing a day, no skipping Duolingo, songwriting as much as possible, record album next week, get better with crochet.

I /need/ a nap, I just haven't taken one yet.

I've poked at the organizing and gotten the backups from my laptop onto my PC so I can send that thumbdrive back to Backblaze (backup service). DnD starts pretty soon and tomorrow I'm weeding.

I resolved to write a novel this year, but reviews for Patreon have already shoved that aside four times. I think I should just give up. I'm never going to get a book done; earning money always ends up taking precedence.

Made some bat wraps for wildlife rescue! Quite apart from the massive bushfires, much of Australia is having a major drought, and our local bats tend to drop their young when they get too hot and dry. So bat rescuers are in need of bat wraps for the baby bats.

I just flew back from vacation today. For that reason, all my resolutions are starting tomorrow.

I want to learn botanical drawing this year. There are some good resources in town and I have some good ebooks on the topic, I just need to do it.

I'm trying to get my crocheted hip wallet done before I go to DC in a couple of weeks. I've gotten to the sewing stage, so I should be done by the end of the week. Possibly maybe hopefully.

I've gotten off to a good start this year! I'm making this crocheted Gansey sweater with this yarn.

I also started these gauntlets with this yarn. This was my second time doing an I-cord cast on, and first time doing the pattern stitch. It's very slow going, but it's turning out lovely!

...except for the stitch I dropped in the cast on, boo. I'm thinking I'll just see it firmly rather than frog and redo.

My resolution is "make something every day, even if it sucks." I'm aiming to get better at dealing with my perfectionism by just doing things, and striving to finish them. I haven't exactly been hitting every day but I've made more stuff since the start of the year than I have in a long while.

I'm glad I set myself a flexible sort of rule. I have a few sewing projects I'm working on, and if I don't get around to them in a day I try to make up for it by doing something smaller, like a new makeup look or doodling in my journal. Sometimes I even count a new recipe as my "making something" for the day.

Yeah, I suspect flexible rules like that work better for a lot of people -- they definitely do for me. When I've tried more rigid rules like 'every day!!!' the first time I miss I just give up.

I would totally count both doodling & a new makeup look as making something -- especially the makeup, that is High & Arcane Art from my perspective.
