This week (last week, my time), I finished a novel I've been working on since NaNo and I'm busy going into the editing process now, first and second read-throughs, as well as beginning to look for betas. I have 3 so far, but would like a pool of at least 5. If anyone here felt up for it, I'd love that, but it's a 71k word long story so it's a lot.
It's been such an amazing writing process, never have I had such a streamlined, smooth writing experience. The writer's drop has only set in now and I'm beginning to drag a little, mostly due to tiredness and holiday stress.
I'm doing an "editing week" now where I take two chapters a day and edit them in depth, which means I'll be done by the weekend (the novel is 13 chapters long). I'm really satisfied with what I've done so far. It's a historical novel, taking place in 1920s France with LGBT+ elements.
So far, the summary goes like this: She wanted to be on her way; Paris seemed as good a direction as any. When her distant older brother, Charles, involves her in his plans of ensnaring his wealthy business associate's heir, Armand Dubois, and when Charles' girlfriend, the enticing Italian actress, Eloisa Paolo, also enters the picture, Sylvie Gallard has to slowly realize that wanting to be on your way somewhere can land you in many different places.
I look forward to working with this novel for the next couple of months.
