I've been trying to keep my garden patches watered in the heat. :P But I am getting some nice cherry tomatoes. My sunflowers and zinnias are blooming. I'm really hoping to get seeds from the volunteer sunflowers and from the zinnias I sowed from the Charleston food forest, so I can develop landraces of them. Commerial sunflowers are iffy for me. I've also gotten a few cucumbers so I could make chop salad, that was nice.

Recently I scored a couple skeins of art yarn at a thrift store. The crafts I do with yarn are not typically wearable so fancy yarn is fine.

I'm still working through prompts from last Tuesday's Poetry Fishbowl.

We are currently watching RWBY ... season 3 I think. I'm not thrilled with the political focus. I would've been way more interested in figuring out how to get Ozbin back. But the monster hunting parts are still fun to watch.

Ugh watering in the heat ugh. We eventually got the new tape hose hooked up. It's not actually less work than a watering can, because hauling around a hose full of water is heavy, but at least I can get lots more water onto the plants.

My co-author and I sent off our second draft novella to our second beta yesterday and will be sending it to no. 3 today. This is the main chunk of our editing process, starting now. After that, there's only the final editing feedback from my friend waiting and we'll be ready to self-publish.

Another exciting thing is that later today, we'll be ordering our cover from the cover artist we've been talking to about the project over at Fiverr and I am extremely and kinda stupidly excited about this.

Finally, I just got the idea this morning to maybe give my co-author, who is also my girlfriend, a piece of commissioned art of our characters from the novella for her upcoming birthday (October) and have it printed as a poster to hang in our living room. Not sure I'll be going through with this one yet, but the whole notion made me smile, so we'll see. The other two are definitely happening.

This means, however, the most writing I'm doing right now is all editing. Not my favourite part of the writing process, ngl, but having my girlfriend to share it with this round does actually help a bit on my focus.

Coming out of a bit of a spiral since publishing my most recent fic’s last chapter, I’ve surprisingly taken a shining to drafting its follow-up so far. It’s something to tether me, I suppose, especially considering I’ve somewhat painfully resigned to putting my ostensible primary project on the backburner for what might be the rest of the year; that, and it’s also ample opportunity for me to make good on that aforementioned mental turmoil.

…So, that should be fun.

I've started renewing my Security+ certification and creative-wise have been working on a hexagonal english paper piecing quilt, which will likely take forever. I've been trying to get back into writing with some stream-of-consciousness fantasy but we'll see how it goes.
