I went to a stationary store with fandom friends last weekend & acquired a calligraphy pen. I have yet to commit any calligraphy with it, however. I don't know what kind of paper is good to use for that. I didn't have money to get any when I was at the store. I did use cardstock another time, but that was with markers...

cardstock should work! I've got a calligraphy book and if I'm reading it right, you should be able to use almost any paper
