It is Saturday, & we are here!

This week I learned that 'weekeing' is not an acceptable variant spelling of 'weekend' by which I mean WOW did my fingers do a thing last Saturday.

Those of us in the US are looking forward to Thanksgiving, where 'looking forward to' contains multitudes. I hope y'all find a way to enjoy the day, or at least survive it.

For those of y'all elsewhere, there's probably winter prep -- or summer prep -- going on.

Whatcha doin this weekend? Is it cool? Can I see?

I had rain & snow a couple days last week, so I had to buy a big tarp to put over the tinker's wagon. The ground is barely dry enough to work outside today so I'll be working on the walls today & tomorrow, but it's gonna rain again later this week, so I'm kind of in a hurry.

I reeeeeeally need to get the roof on, but I reeeeeeally doubt that's gonna happen before Thursday. If I can get the walls finished, though, & get it pulled around to the front of the house where there's gravel instead of mud, I'll be pretty okay with that.

I got a couple more boards put up on the walls, but not as many as I'd wanted -- there's still enough mud that working in it is slightly exhausting. More tomorrow.

This sounds like a super cool project, from the updates I've seen, but I'm not totally clear on what exactly it is! Would you be willing to give a little background?

I'm a merchant in the SCA, which means that in addition to putting up tables with all my stuff I _also_ have to set up a period-ish canvas tent for it to go under.

I am ... not getting younger. & thus, this is a bunch of work & OW.

So pretty much what I'm doing is building a cross between a tiny house & a travelling merchant booth. Sort of, anyway, in that the booth won't be _in_ the trailer (making that wheelchair-accessible would be ... festive, plus I don't want people shopping in what's basically my house when I'm on the road) BUT the trailer will be the back wall of the booth, & it'll make setting up the rest of it a LOT easier.

The _other_ thing it'll do is make it easier for me to spend more time on the road -- I used to stay out for a couple weeks at a time in just the van, but I carry more stuff now, & well, I don't _fit_. Plus I'm getting to old to live part-time in a room so small I can't stand up straight.

The build is based on things like Romany vardos (which I just found out were based on circus wagons!), & the sheep wagons used in the western US in the late 1800s/early 1900s. Thus they're almost certainly not SCA period, but they fall under 'it's historical & really cool' so people use them anyways.

That’s so cool!!! I was looking into the SCA awhile back but kept chickening out of doing anything about it. Because of this I’m now clicking around on my area’s pages again... it just looks like so much fun!

I'm writing so many. Or that's the plan; I keep going back to sleep instead.

I have no plans to let anyone see where the firelight fades if they haven't already until I have a complete draft, but I'd welcome opinions on "Paonne Blanche" (working title, unlikely to stick) and the one I want done for its recipient's birthday in a week? As per my current usual, Miraculous Ladybug fanfic; I'll PM you (general you, unless you're specifically soc_puppet) the Google Docs link(s) if you're interested?

Writing & sleeping don't work well together, alas, though I've found that working on story ideas & sleeping can go together in interesting ways.

Well, yesterday I got a good chunk of the beloved monstrosity rewritten - a couple of chapters maybe 2/3 of the way through the story. (I actually have you to thank for the revision, kellan_the_tabby, because you reading the fic drew my attention to the fact that there was stuff I hadn't made adequately clear for people unfamiliar with the rest of my work in that universe. (Hopefully it will satisfy if you read this far!) Of course, despite adding 2500 words, the word count was the same as before I started, because I cut so much-- but I think it's better than it was, so that's good!

Also, my grandma gave me a bunch of pears the other day, so I'm trying my hand at a cobbler recipe I found online. It's in the oven now; updates will follow! (I'm hoping it works out, because I want sweet things.)

Yeah, I’m definitely aware that the rest of that series is, uh...daunting. But since this is technically a prequel it really should stand alone! I wouldn’t want readers to feel like there was prereq reading!

I went to a productivity party on Friday! I got about two thirds of a hat knitted while there. No pictures yet, but the hat matches my Lovey Dovey mitts so that gives you an idea of what it looks like.
