I've been making ear- and hijab-savers! And also a few new cloth masks, if only to finally finish some of the ones I cut, folded, and pinned in October of 2020. Dunno how much use the latter will get due to changing mask recommendations, but at least I'm fairly sure the former will be well received and used.

today I made meatloaf, because yesterday I got a couple pounds of raw ground beef out of the freezer because I wanted tacos, and that was much too much meat for tacos

nope: the ground beef, the eggs that needed using, a packet of onion soup mix, rolled oats, too many frozen peas oops, and probably also too much barbecue sauce

I'm trying to work on my Carolina Panthers/Cookie Monster colored-blanket but Samantha Cat has decided it's her favorite place to nap so I have to work around a cat. A cat who loves dangly things like yarn in the process of being crocheted. It's a process.

Homework, homework, homework . . . that has been my life this week. But some of that has involved a little bit of poetry-writing, so that's been nice! I did give myself the evening off yesterday and knitted a small yarn square while watching a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (I like knitting squares because it feels like creating something but requires absolutely no skill and not very much patience, so it's good for the mental place I'm in lately.)

I've been making lots of progress on my big cross-stitch project, because it can be done in short bursts and does not require a ton of deep thought. I need to upload a newer progress picture, here is one from a few weeks ago.

I also started *another* small cross-stitch project even though I have a number of big ones unfinished. Sigh, at least this one is finite in size.

Finally, I had some time off over the holidays and made a massive dent in cleaning my craft room! I've cut out the fabric for a skater dress I want to make, and tested some stitches on my sewing machine as I don't usually work with jersey. Next up, learn how to clean and oil my serger because it's been a scary long time since I've used it. Whee!

Oh my gosh, that cross-stitch project is so pretty! Such nice colors and clean lines. It definitely fits the theme of "cats getting in the way of crafty stuff" that's going on elsewhere in the comments 😂

I love short projects, and just knowing that I've finished something. Big projects can be fun, too, but it can be so nice to just have something done and complete!

So Hi, I‘m new! I‘d been looking for a place like this and got a recommendation during the current snowflake_challenge.
I‘m currently working on an art piece/concept for a Reverse Big Bang. The rough draft is due at the end of January, final piece in April. I have a rough sketch for a composition and did some practice drawings of the characters on Saturday and Sunday, focusing on faces, eyes, and different body poses I could use for the main art.
I totally refrained from any large challenges last year and hope to get back into a regular drawing habit with this.
