Amazingly no one has started setting off fireworks around here yet (we're in an unincorporated area and people think the fireworks ban and drought doesn't apply to them)

still kicking at het_bigbang and mlwritersguild April, but progress is slow

sunshine_challenge started and the first thing I did was a 2.3K fanfic

am putting off doing a load of laundry because I fully expect to need to be in the basement cuddling my cat for sixteen hours on the fourth, and if I can make that my only venture downstairs this week I probably should (fucking knees); meanwhile I have already needed to cuddle my cat through somebody's local amateur fireworks show this week, it's deeply annoying

When I'm stressed out, I cross stitch. I am about 2/3 of the way through an Art Nouveau design I started working on a few weeks ago.

One of the things I love about cross stitching is that if I screw it up, I can take out the stitches and do it over. Not all crafts come with an Undo function.

I just typed "WIP" as "RIP" and I think that's indicative of my state of mind these days. World events are making me lose all faith in people's basic decency, plus I'm trying to chase down some health stuff and that's leaving me extra drained.

I am plugging away at the prototype t-shirt. I think I am going to just do these on my regular sewing machine, and treat "practice using the serger" as a separate project track.

I turned a pair of mid-calf not-quite-pants into a pair of shorts with extra deep pockets and fun space-themed trim.

I'm also on Version 2.0 of Extra Wide Mid-Bed Sheet Straps, and hoping elastic will serve me better than belting. Belting did great! It helped stop my sheets from bunching up too horribly! But things could still be better, and today I was game to try again.

I used to have some elastic bed sheet straps that had, no lie, giant garter-belt fasteners on each end. They were great.

The shorts sound like a ton of fun!
