I received a box of (mostly) aloha shirts for making the memory quilt. There are 14 shirts and they somehow all seem to be different sizes. I've cut up a few and even that part is more challenging than I would like. So far I have unintentionally put holes in one sleeve, one front panel, and my left index finger.
Cutting up the shirts is surprisingly soothing. When we were kids, my brother & I would take apart anything and everything. (Let's not talk about putting any of it back together.) This feels like one last bonding session of taking stuff apart together.
Thanks for filing in! I've been not feeling great and letting myself be lazy. Today mom and I are going to a pow-wow
I did however get a lot of things done in the last week or so: - got my office picked up. I still have a pile of notebooks to go through and see if they're full and if everything in them is typed up. There's some books to read in that pile and my WIP Thundera world map, also a basket of smaller stuff to go through. - moved all my tabletop rpg books and tarot stuff to the same place (near where my dice already where) instead of piled on top of a book shelf in a mess. ... I also have several of those that I helped kickstart that I should look through and run - did some dusting - finally got the lights off my xmas tree (half had blown out) and ordered new strands (a bit tricky because it's a blue tinsel tree so I needed lights with blue or white wires) - finished another one of the plush xmas ornaments that I'm turning into standees. I have one more in that set and then the set that started the whole thing - actually started reading some books? I'm doing Malory Daily (https://malorydaily.substack.com/ and https://malorydaily.tumblr.com/). I signed up late so I have a bunch of catch-up today, but I've had paperbacks of Le Morte d'Arthur for *cough* years, so it'd be good to actually read them - I've been riding the stationary bike again and so also making progress on watching Inuyasha - did some sketching / brainstorming for my isekai inspired by Inuyasha - also did a little work on the blog post I promised Mom about advanced iris folding techniques. I'm going to put it in the Creative Commons and on Archive.org so I need to come up with some more original designs and make them.
Earlier this week, I uploaded and described some super short comics I made in 2006 about a young human man and his tentacled alien roommate (who is also his boyfriend); you can find them here. There is only one image that is even slightly "adult", and it is thoroughly censored, though you might still get in trouble if your boss caught you looking at it at work. Imagine "The Birth of Venus" but with someone's head in front of the 'scandalous' bits, except it's a slightly more scandalous image.
Tonight, I finished another six corn bags, since I have an order for two at work, and have some new coworkers to shove some at.
I also picked up a cheap-o thirty page sketch book at the Dollar Tree, with the goal of teaching myself to draw furry art and/or get better at it; I plan to sketch up one furry per page and see where it takes me. So far I've got six pages, if you count the one that's a shark mermaid guy.
As usual, I have too many projects going at once, but I've decided to focus on knitting and Halloween prep. Right now that means finishing the full sized baby blanket ASAP, working on the drop stitch shawl at my leisure, painting Halloween village houses, and building a display of fake candles.
