This weekend is going to be all about putting together two Pax wardrobes from Ikea that will be display cases for my toys. I did two at the beginning of the pandemic and now that I'm working, I bought the other two. I still need to order plexiglass for the doors, and buy shelves and stuff.
I just barely have enough room in my bedroom to build them.
Over on tumblr ( https://rainbowfic.tumblr.com/ ), I've done a bunch of stuff for Rainbowfic / rainbowlists, including queuing more colors and the rest of the supplies.
I've also been reading a bunch of non-fiction, including a couple of books by Mary Roach (Fuzz and Gulp), both of which I recommend (tw for animal violence in Fuzz, general grossness in Gulp, and fatphobia and ableism in both). They're both light reads. I'm currently reading Phantom Atlas which isn't as entertaining but is very interesting, It's about places that were put on maps that ended up to not be real. I wish it went into more depth of the history, but it's intriguing
Okay, so this weekend has been recharge and relax weekend. I haven't done much and the cats that have snuggled with me have agreed that I needed it. I have an horrific cough so I'm trying to sleep that off.
But, I still got NaNo prepped, and did a couple loads of laundry. So, I'm ready for another nap.
I finished the kitty-cat charity crochet pattern! You can read more about it here on Dreamwidth, or at the Tumblr mirror. I've already had several people take advantage of my offer and donate ♥ I kinda wish there were a proper fandom fundraiser for Palestine going on right now, but I'll take what I can get.
Anyway, if you crochet and are looking for cute, simple trinkets to make your loved ones for an upcoming Gift Giving Holiday, and want to contribute to a good cause at the same time, check out those links!
I also finished all of the recliner arm-and-back protector cover thingies! I have a photo I can share properly later, right now I'm about to try and create a nap.
I finished my spook_me stories and one of the two fandomtrumpshate stories. I have one more to finish for that, working that in between cleaning house in prep for my surgery
I wrote two stories for a ficathon, but one I have disavowed because I did a good enough job of depicting evildoing that I scared myself, ahahahaha.
Also earlier I wrote a story for someone I don't know at all and she LOVED it, paragraphs' worth of commentary loved it. I'm really glad I could give her such a gift.
I got a new job. It's kicking my butt and is temporary, but it's something for now.
What I've got done this week: Finished knitting the 3 pairs of mittens for the Mittalong.
Decorating inside the house and setting up the Halloween village.
This year's scratch art mask
Attending the gore workshop (learning & practicing different techniques for making bloody practical effects.)
Attending the latest art book workshop in this year's bimonthly series.
Picked up my paintings from my show at the library. I got some nice comments and I'm a little sad to see the show end, but I'm happy to have them home.
What I need to do this coming week: Sew up the knitted mittens
Preping outside for the trick or treaters
Knit on the hat I started. I don't need to finish it, just work on it when I can.
Finsh more fics than I can shake a stick at
Doing character builds for next week's library d&d session
Close the Fall Fest Bingo at allbingo (after the 31st)
Thank you! I haven't had a lot of takers yet, but of them, two showed me receipts with a big enough number that I felt compelled to give them an extra pattern or two 😂 I'm sure they weren't donating that much just to get my patterns, but I'm still grateful enough to them that I felt the gesture was appropriate. Anyway, I submitted the Tumblr link to copperbadge's Radio Free Monday blast, so hopefully it'll get some more takers in the very near future!
- I just pulled several pieces out of the kiln this morning, and now they are ready to decorate and glaze! I've got some serving dishes, mugs, a jar, and some trinket dishes. As well as a few Christmas ornaments. This afternoon I planned out what I want to put on them with copious drawings and notes! Hopefully tomorrow I can get started on some of the glazing.
- I got started on outlining my Yuletide fic. I'm taking that as a big win.
-Deleted my Pinterest account because Pinterest was getting flooded with AI "art" slop. It's good for my sanity -Posted my watercolor piece of supercell thunderstorm on Fine Art America for sale and prints -Created a short opinion piece on my website and Medium for experiments -Put first two pages of Piper's Treehouse live
I'm getting to start on sketching page 4 of graphic novel and finishing up a few things this week.
