Currently riding the highs of both my (somewhat bittersweet) return from a two-week trip abroad, and a couple fortunate windfalls for my AO3 career—the latter of which including the first organic recommendation of one of my works that I’ve ever spotted out in the wild, much less off-site (so far as I can recall)—to enter what may be the last stretch of (the first draft of) an entry for a contest that I completely forgot about until its announcement going into last weekend.
Said contest, for any other Pokéficcers around here, is Thousand Roads’ yearly one-shot contest (and attempted zine at some point, though I won’t ask about what happened to that lmao)—with the current theme being “Weird and Wonderful (Pokémon lore, that is)”. I myself entered last year’s iteration, and while I may not have placed in the end, what praise my submission did get from its judges (and feedback besides, of course) was a heaping helping of the validation I so crave regardless…not to mention the exposure™ it granted either way (even as far as that aforementioned rec), which I’m hoping to capitalize on once again, with this year’s submission in part being penned as a bit of promo for a larger project of mine.
In the meantime, though, I’ll just get back to my immaculately scored writing sesh—for sake of a work whose title might be the one I’m proudest of yet.
