What are you working on? What have you finished? What do you need encouragement on?
Are there any cool events or challenges happening that you want to hype?
What do you just want to talk about?
What have you been watching or reading?
Chores and other not-fun things count!
Remember to encourage other commenters and we have a discord where we can do work-alongs and chat, linked in the sticky

Date: 2025-06-07 08:54 pm (UTC)I read more Spawn and it's reaching delightfully batshit insane levels. I am officially invested in the characters even with all of their writings flaws :')
Worked a teeny bit on fan related things? I guess?
Almost relistened to all of Crowbar's album Broken Glass.
Important housekeeping was done.
Am going to make more comics tonight.......... :)

Date: 2025-06-08 12:50 am (UTC)Thank you! Spawn is many such things.... Mostly, it's a comic book with a bunch of awesome spin-offs under its belt :)

Date: 2025-06-07 11:34 pm (UTC)If you want a really good take on the universe that's written with more maturity and grace and got 2 hours to spare, there's a really cool animated series (starring the KEITH DAVID!!!). the first season is pretty good (I haven't watched the other seasons so can't say).

Date: 2025-06-07 09:21 pm (UTC)I've been writing a lot of fanfic, dreamwidth really has been the best place for me when it comes to finding prompts.
Against my better judgement, I've also made three (and a half) pairs of earrings, two (and said half) being themed after the character Takeuchi from the manga Mars Red. Against my better judgement cus it's kinda hard on my hands, but since I haven't been able to draw, I've been going stir-crazy.

Date: 2025-06-08 12:29 am (UTC)Currently riding the highs of both my (somewhat bittersweet) return from a two-week trip abroad, and a couple fortunate windfalls for my AO3 career—the latter of which including the first organic recommendation of one of my works that I’ve ever spotted out in the wild, much less off-site (so far as I can recall)—to enter what may be the last stretch of (the first draft of) an entry for a contest that I completely forgot about until its announcement going into last weekend.
Said contest, for any other Pokéficcers around here, is Thousand Roads’ yearly one-shot contest (and attempted zine at some point, though I won’t ask about what happened to that lmao)—with the current theme being “Weird and Wonderful (Pokémon lore, that is)”. I myself entered last year’s iteration, and while I may not have placed in the end, what praise my submission did get from its judges (and feedback besides, of course) was a heaping helping of the validation I so crave regardless…not to mention the exposure™ it granted either way (even as far as that aforementioned rec), which I’m hoping to capitalize on once again, with this year’s submission in part being penned as a bit of promo for a larger project of mine.
In the meantime, though, I’ll just get back to my immaculately scored writing sesh—for sake of a work whose title might be the one I’m proudest of yet.

Date: 2025-06-08 12:04 pm (UTC)Made a couple of spreadsheets for cross stitch projects and sewing projects with an eye towards clearing out my backlog, then ran out of steam.
Reprioritized my cross stitch queue slightly and have started the next project from the Cross Stitch In The Forest book. Have I learned my lesson about dark Aida, many similar shades of one colour, and fractional stitches? No. Have I learned to check HOW MUCH of each shade I'll need when using threads from my stash? Also no.
I also got out one of the backlog WIPs, and as a bonus found the missing Permin kit. I guess these were meant to be my travel pieces when we moved... over 2 years ago... le sigh.
I've been feeling very depressed and stuck and don't want to do anything. Today is the first weekend day when it MAY ACTUALLY NOT RAIN and I'm going on a group hike even though I kind of want to cancel.

Date: 2025-06-08 09:17 pm (UTC)Ugh, I remember why I stopped working on this. The white backstitch on the umbrella is nearly invisible, the angles on the long lines are impossible to subdivide, and thou shalt not even get me started on the tiny backstitches in the handbag ALL OF WHICH have to come up in the middle of the Xs.
Also, she looks like a chipmunk and her umbrella has no handle. :P

Right now I'm just coloring because I ran out of yarn for my next blanket project and I'm waiting for the next skeins to get delivered.

Date: 2025-06-09 05:43 pm (UTC)I'm also currently scanning and cleaning up a spin-off manga for my fandom. As far as I know, the only complete copy of it is buried in the Internet Archive and requires an account (albeit a free one) to view it; it's a library copy with dark pages full of gutter shadows. I microwaved and sacrificed my copy to free the pages from their binding. Doing this is making me nostalgic for doujinshi scanlations...

Date: 2025-06-10 01:57 am (UTC)I've begun reading a Danish book called something that translates to "Fleeting Words" and is an essay by political speech writer, Anita Furu, who has served not one or two but FOUR different Danish prime ministers until she recently retired to write full-time. It's very easily consumed and gives an interesting and very warm-tinted look at the workings at Danish parliament. I'm two chapters in, but will try reading a new chapter every day until I'm done (the book is 13 chapters).
I have also betaread. It's a novel, so 100k words and I'm not nearly done, but it's a good exercise for me, since I've never done it before on something so major in size. I really like the story, though, so in that way it's an easy job.
And I've just outlined a new short story in the same universe as the two I recently wrote. It'll be a text message-style piece and I'm kinda excited for it.
