What are you working on? What have you finished? What do you need encouragement on?

Are there any cool events or challenges happening that you want to hype?

What do you just want to talk about?

What have you been watching or reading?

Chores and other not-fun things count!

Remember to encourage other commenters and we have a discord where we can do work-alongs and chat, linked in the sticky.

Today has been a day of Discovery. I have discovered that I can't eat cookies made with eggs. This makes me sad.

I've made two batches of cookies and a batch of bread.

I'm participating in [community profile] communal_creators and, other than yesterday (Sunday), I met (and exceeded!) my daily goal of 15 minutes of creative work every day this week. (I made a time- and craft- tracking spreadsheet for the event.) I'm still well above my daily average goal at 69 minutes. (Nice.)

That said, I am seriously burned out by work and I don't know if I'll be able to keep up that level of creating. You can see on the spreadsheet that I'm definitely sticking more to low spoons work, like crochet, and not doing much (or any) more difficult work, like writing. (I've written some fanfic but no original work.)

Rosh Hashanah starts tonight and I got my nails done and I'm sooo pleased with how they look!

Lovely colour nails!

What kinda stuff are you crocheting? I'm more of a knitter myself so I love seeing what people crochet; it has so much creative freedom.

I mostly crochet blankets. I like things that are fairly mindless and repetitive, mostly to keep my hands busy. My current WIP is a pastel rainbow half circle blanket.

The last thing I made was corncob broth. It was delicious. \o/

>>Are there any cool events or challenges happening that you want to hype?<<

We just did Autumn Fest which had lots of local crafters.

Next up will be the Harvest Frolic with historic crafters.

Currently watching: Miraculous Ladybug.

Currently reading: Miss Amelia's List.

Watering the gardens. We got a teasing dribble of the rain the other day. Theoretically we're supposed to get more, but I've watched the forecast shift around for a week and a half, so I'll believe it if it gets here.

Local honey is the best option when you can get it, I'm glad you have access to it when you might need to stock up. Dad has a deal with a bee-keeper that he gets to keep his bee hives on our land in exchange for honey so I think the only time I've ever paid for it was when I lived pretty far from home (a pro of countryside living)

Also, I'm always so confused when I'm reminded that so much of USA's food has food colouring in it, when I first found out that USA-Fanta has dye in it I was stunned.

I had like 3 bottles at home when I saw the table at Autumn Fest, which is why I passed on that one. *ponder* Maybe I should make honey cookies or something.

Most USA food has multiple kinds of garbage in it, and things that don't are more expensive. Why the fuck do they want to make pickle relish neon green? Pickles are already green. If you wanted them super-extra-green you could just grate in some zucchini rind and you'd never taste it over all that pickle. Anyhow, this is why I shop at farmer's markets and street fairs and health food stores when I can afford to. Or walk around the yard putting things in my mouth.

I was sick and stuck at home at the end of last week, so I tried out making rentrys (rentries????) of Takeuchi, and made a bunch of wallpapers of him too, which means I've been colouring manga panels. My hands are still kinda fucked up so I've been stuck using mostly the lasso+airbrush tool for shading, which is new for me, I usually use a watercolour brush but that requires more pressure, so airbrushing is a lot gentler. This is one rentry, all the parts Iused in it are either from the manga or the game.

But! The fact that I can hold the pen to colour at all means I've been making progress with my hands, even if I can't really do lineart yet.

Also worked a bit more on his shrine, I mostly have to take screenshots of the musical and finish the main page now.

Also, I rewatched the entire Chobits anime yesterday. Clamp knows how to draw some cute clothes, I've always loved Chii's dresses.

It's been a super busy week! I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but I did a better job than usual at taking breaks.

I managed to fit a dialogue facilitation workshop into my schedule, which I'm happy about. I went out of curiosity and had a lot of fun.

Check In

Hi! I'm currently working on a song with the online music group I'm a part of. I just got back from going to a wedding in another state, so I'm hoping I'll have more time to work on it again. I've also been streaming (VTubing) my attempts at completing a 30-day learning-to-draw-characters challenge, which I'm hoping to continue now that I'm back from my trip.

I haven't finished anything creative lately, but since non-creative things count, something I got done over the past week was outfit shopping for a wedding I was invited to.

Annnd I think that's all I have right now. c:
