Recently I finished a long tube pillow to put under my knees whenever I sleep on my back. I overextend them so I was starting to have leg problems. It really helped, I don't have nearly as much pain in them now. Had to make two versions cus I made the first one too big, but the one I have now works pretty well. Still gotta try and see how it works to put them under my calves when I lie on my stomach though.

I’ve decided to take a(n indefinite) step back from creative writing, which I plan to make a proper post about on my journal around a week and a half from now—that post will also hopefully start a comeback to blogging from more than two months of complete silence on that front; in anticipation, in part, I’ve been playing a few things that’ll hopefully give me stuff to talk about for a hot minute:

  • Pokémon Legends Z-A, which I kinda meant to finish a playthrough of completely fresh—for an ‘untainted’ firsthand perspective I’d use as the basis for fic research—but have since spoiled myself semi-thoroughly while having paused said playthrough about halfway(?) through the game myself, not that it’d matter much now anyways
  • Jurassic World Evolution 3, which ironically I’m having a much fresh-faced experience of—save for, as of last night, some future wrinkles to the already frustrating Katsuyama campaign map that I’m definitely dreading
  • Dispatch, which I absolutely welcome the weekly release model for while at the same time NEEDING WAY MORE OF RIGHT NOW

I’ve been a bit sore to do anything but game, I’ve noticed; passively watching some TV or putting on a video essay about anything art-related gives me too much room to think about what I’m giving up, I think—but all I’ve to do is get used to it, I guess. Ironically enough, the next six or so weeks are looking pretty free for me to pursue my passions…or work out what they are, as it were.

Why am I surprised that there are more Jurassic Park (or World in this case) games than Danger Zone, of course there is, that game's like 20 years old atp, and that wasn't even the first Jurassic Park game, just the only one I've ever played. xD

I hope you manage to figure out what needs figuring out, and if you choose to come back to writing, that it goes well and that you get to enjoy it. If you decide to do something else, I hope you have a lot of fun exploring it.

Thanks! On a more positive than painful end, at least, I’m starting to wonder about taking a stab at FL Studio for once instead of swearing off (what I’d consider) art entirely…

Ooooh, that Jurassic World Evolution 3 game must be really fun and awesome! If only I had the cash and time for something like that... I have a really cute and cozy, casual type of farming with dinos type of game, but I have no idea when I'll get back to Paleo Pines.

Retreating from burnout to focus on something else may help inspire you for your creative projects.

It has its ups and downs so far, but I expected as much given my experience with the prior two entries—as of this morning, even, I’ve only had one other pain point that I’d call egregious (a few annoying bugs and strangely positioned performance hangups aside). I can see myself finishing up the campaign sometime this week, at least; whether I’ll wait for a fuller animal roster to start doing the Challenges afterward is another story…

…Speaking of other stories, maybe I should pick Paleo Pines out of my wishlist one of thse days…

Retreating from burnout to focus on something else may help inspire you for your creative projects.

Maybe so—I’d less call it burnout, though, and more of a realization that I might’ve been setting myself up for burnout more than what it’s been worth; time will tell whether that’s true, I suppose.

I'm settling back into work & home life after being on vacation for about a week. It was more difficult then I expected.

I also have a home inspection coming up at the start of the week so a deeper then usual clean has been added to my weekend chores.

On the positive side I now have a working desktop again & my partner and I have both switched over to Linux os.
We started a game of Tiny Tina's wonderland and are hoping to start a modded minecraft game as well.

It might be too soon to ask if you like Linux yet or not, depending on when you started using it, but I do know the os has some hardcore fans. I hope you'll like it.

Iv'e heard of Tiny Tina's Wonderland before, the art style is pretty cool in it, kind of cartoony from the screenshots I've seen.

I haven't been using it much since I don't use my desktop much.

But I am enjoying it when I do use it. It is fairly simple and as a long time windows user the transition was pretty seamless.

I played boarderla ds 1-3 & I'm a fan of the cell shaded art style. Tiny Tina's is, so far, a mix of borderlands style game play with some ttrpg elements. The story and gameplay have been fun.

I wanna try starting a project to expand the universe of Splintered Fate, the most recent video game in the TMNT franchise. I love the game's story, characters, and lore very much, but its universe isn't very developed compared to other versions of the turtles since it is a standalone video game. Ergo, I'd like to try and explore other possibilities within its established cast/setting while adding new elements both original to the franchise and of my own design. Biggest struggle is that it's incredibly niche and thus I don't have many people to talk to about the established lore and how to elaborate on it, even among friends, haha.
What have you been watching or reading?

Got the chance to watch the Superman movie from this year last night. I also poked a bit at Code Lyoko recently and am getting the weird urge to rewatch Cybersix again.

I'm not very familiar with this newer TMNT series, but I am interested to read more about your universe building ideas.

Code Lyoko!! I somewhat remember watching that show for a quite a while. I liked it and might want to rewatch some of the episodes someday. It's been years. I remember getting curious about this show through an old RP writing buddy who wrote as an AU of Jeremy. I really liked how she wrote about him, and we had fun plotting the interaction between her interpretation with my muse of Dexter Morgan (from the book series, not the TV show) so long ago. ...I'll have to reread those scenes to remember the character clearly.

Haha, it's not a series. It's a video game developed by a team called Super Evil Megacorp. The stories and characters take a lot of inspiration from the IDW comics, but it is treated as its own separate universe and includes quite a few references to other iterations such as the 1990s movies and 2003 animated series. The only problem is that it being a standalone video game means very little about the world is known outside what's stated within its actual plot (ex: Splinter having the "Hamato Yoshi mutated into a rat" backstory), so I basically took one look at and it was like "My city now."

The good news is that the entire English version of the series is available to watch for free over on Youtube! Just look up something "Code Lyoko Episode 1" and it should be one of the first results

Ahhh, that makes sense! I tend to do that a lot with characters that don't already have a lot of background to them. It means creative freedom to come up with head-canons and the like~! I'm sure you'll have a ball with this universe you're planning to build.

Creative freedom, yaaaaaay! I'm currently seeing and imagining the personalities slowly developing with two cosmic horror types of monster characters through each song I finish--to go along with the amazing vocals they have.

Oh cool, the show's on YT! I'll keep this in mind, thank you. ^^

I actually did some work on my cross stitch WIP "Upon A Star" last weekend! Woooooooo go me.

Depression, work burnout, and long hours are sapping my will to live.

I'm still trying to talk Mr Diane into seeing Gary Numan again in the spring. So far "let's drive to Montreal in March" is the most sensible option on the table. Le sigh.

Nice job! That's neat with what you did with the soda can. A shiny trilobite!

You're a shiny little trilobite,
You look so neat to me.
A shiny little trilobite that doesn't live at sea...

^^ I changed the wording from this old and cute 90's children's song about some kid discovering a tiny trilobite fossil between her toes. The original chorus I still remember very clearly goes like this:

You're a funny little trilobite,
You look so strange to me.
A funny little trilobite that swims beneath the sea.
Two hundred million years have passed.
They say that you're extinct,
But I'd love to have a trilobite to hang around with me.

Still working on that shawl and not really feeling like I'm making any progress. That's what I get for going back to school (so to speak). Ended up with the worst case of over-stimulation I had in a while last Wednesday, which I ended up dragging around until Friday evening. The resulting headache was no fun.

But anyway!

Getting back into creating layouts for DW after a whopping 8 years of taking a break from that. So many new things to learn, so many things to try and remember, ugh. Currently fighting with the style system, trying to make it do what I want. The winner is still to be determined.

Thank you, I am. Really needed the weekend break though.

Yes, mostly CSS. But I have a few things I don't like about how the elements are ordered, for example that the posting date is displayed under the entry title. And to change things like that without using CSS in a way it's not supposed to be used, you need to mess around with S2 style layers. That's not something most people want to deal with. 🤯😁

Hi all! I've just joined this positive community, and I think I'll like it here. I see there's all sorts of creativity going on between the other members, and that is very cool! I will see about coming here often, to hopefully help inspire as well as share my own big and crazy creative ideas for what I've been so very into.

I'll see about joining the Discord chat soon! Seems like a good group... And now, to go over these questions.

What are you working on? What have you finished?
I have been in the middle of importing my custom made soundtrack that I've been overall very accomplished and happy with--to my YouTube gaming channel. I am halfway done, doing lyrical videos of each track! I did songs through Suno about these monsters, lore, and setting up various music styles that mostly revolves around the autopsy notes about the nature and logic defying monsters, the eldritch Ancient who created them, the Ancient's Liche emissary, and so on. The fandom is this old 2000's Nintendo GameCube game, known as Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. I have uploaded 8 out of 17 tracks into a playlist so far. I'm in the middle of putting the 9th one together. I hope to finish it today, and get it uploaded.

From here, it's a segway into this question. What do you just want to talk about?

I had been taking a little break away yesterday, because Fridays are not just busy at work for me. My mom and I just got back into playing board and card games with friends we were unable to go see for months. It was inconvenient to try to go without having a car as a means to traveling over to this really cool game store that is independent, called Swords and Spoons. Last night was fun! Funny that my mom and I had tied while playing this 5-suit rummy card game known as Five Crowns. Most of everyone else was just learning how to play for the first time. I didn't think I was going to win, because I was not able to really play most of my cards in the changing hands for a while. And then it was at the very last second when we found out that my mom and I had tied. LOL, I guess we were both playing our hardest! We're the Five Crowns veteran players, because we have played it together dozens and dozens of times!

I even got to tell some of my new friends about my remaster of this catchy, silly rave song I did on Suno about this game. Oh myyyy gosh, you might laugh! I'm going to link to it. I remember laughing loud when editing and making the second verse sound way better than the original. https://suno.com/s/E8sVWHDogBkaBH9z

This song is so fun, catchy, and silly. I love it, lmao. I can imagine those flashy laser lights going off, and people jumping and dancing to the rhythm of rave music while holding hands of the cards from this game in their hands. XD

I want to do a fun and catchy rap song about the Zombie Dice game next. I got a chorus written already. I'll get back to it later though! I have these other, different song ideas that interest me more. And damn, I found some of my older poems and did four new songs out of those last night! Two of them I have already been soooo hooked on. I was listening to them a lot. I picked right on the genres, and modifying what I originally wrote to make one of the two really good. And the other, I didn't have to change the lyrics at all--because I had always thought of it as a great song to begin with!

What have you been watching or reading?

I have been reading through The Promised Neverland manga for a long while now. I'll want to reread through volume 8 that I got from the library, before taking it back. The manga is just way more interesting than the anime version, past the first season! I really like how the character Ray is depicted. There's also this newer character known as "Geezer"--or rather it's what the kids have been calling him by, since he refuses to give them his name, or even get to know their own names. At first, he was really rude and hostile, and now... I think he's starting to care about Emma and Ray. Emma had tried to have a heart-to-heart talk with him in one of the chapters, and I think she got through to him--at least a little. And the place Emma is at now, Goldy Pond, that's a new dangerous place from where she and her family of other kids had first escaped from.
