Just Create - Overslept

What are you working on? What have you finished? What do you need encouragement on?

Are there any cool events or challenges happening that you want to hype? I've been neglecting Dreamwidth - tell me what I'm missing!

What do you just want to talk about?

What have you been watching or reading?

Chores and other not-fun things count!

Today is the Superb Owl. Going to watch that. But also watching the Ice Dancing competition at the Olympics, because ITS THE OLYMPICS. Am I writing? Not really. I've fallen out of love with my current WIP but I'll pick it up again soon, if past patterns hold true.

But for now, Ice Dancing!

I've been watching the Olympics Ice Dancing too. It's my favorite winter sport to watch (not that I can say I know anything about it, I just enjoy watching it). Will probably catch up on the halftime show tonight or tomorrow depending on when it becomes available here.

Time for an accidental new WIP inbetween?

My inspiration remains scarce for the beginning of this year and that makes me sad.

I hope more inspiration comes to you soon.
I can relate to that sadness when having an urge to create but just drawing blanks.

I've finally started learning how to draw vector art. I was going to do it in Clip Studio Paint first but I only have one licence for my desktop, so for starters I opted to learn the basics in Inkscape since it's free and I can use it on my laptop too then. Hopefully if I find that vectors are a good match for me, I can look into trying it out on Clip Studio too.
I feel it's harder then ever for me to learn something new. I don't understand the terminlogoy and a lot of the tutorials I feel like assume you have prior knowledge or maybe it's a language barrier thing. Anyhow! I made quite a bit of progress today on the emojis I'm working on revamping so that has given me motivation to continue the project another day and not give up.

I'm still in the processing of finding my way around Dreamwidth so I'm also on the look out for events or challenges in the coming months. I'm thinking of still trying to work my way through what I missed on the Snowflake Challenge during February.

What do you just want to talk about?
I kind of took a longer break from fandom and now I'm trying to get back into it, so I'm thinking a lot about how I want to be online (the condenced goal is to make it as meaningful as possible and as little doom scrolling as possible). I've put limits or changed settings on various apps/sites that tend to promote doomscrolling and I'm trying to tie my online time into sections of my day for frequent stuff and specific days for less frequent stuff. So, like, I'll be active on tumblr and discord in the mornings. Then I move on to doing something actively (like this morning working on those vectors). If it's relevant to one of the servers I'm in, I'll sometimes chat about it there.
What I'm doing right now counts as one of my afternoon activites today (practicing English and being on Dreamwidth hehehe). I want to be active here and the posts/comments in this community really helps me with coming back to Dreamwidth now that the Snowflake Challenge is kind of over.
I also want to be active on the Japanese side of Bluesky - but there's no ready community there to join so I'm having a harder time figuring that out. I know I could technically decide on a Bluesky day but I don't think it would be enough. I need something more to trick my brain in a good way.

Idk, I guess I'm just wonder how everyone else relates to and thinks about their time online or what they do online?

What have you been watching or reading?
The Olympics and news about the election here.

Anyhow, now I REALLY need to get changed into day clothes and write that weekly menu and shopping list and go to the supermarket. It feels like a lot but worst case I just go to the supermarket and buy the stuff we only need for today 🙃
