It is Saturday, & we are here!

...or at least I am, until I blow away, which is not unlikely, it's SERIOUSLY windy today in New Mexico.

Giftmas is coming! Have you finished your desperate last-minute crafty gifts? (full disclosure, I gave up on mine, everyone's getting Penzey's this year)

It's also I think getting on towards the end of the semester for some folk? Or it's over for some of you? I don't know, I'm old, college was a LONG TIME AGO.

ANYWAY time to sound off & show off!

With winter weather always threatening I've got to take every day that isn't ENTIRELY horrible to work on the tinker's wagon. So far today I've cut out a couple lengths of gingerbread trim (pics here) & gotten a couple more sanded, so I can paint them inside tomorrow when the weather's crap.

I'm taking a break from that now -- both sanding & operating the jigsaw are tough on my hands, especially my right hand. When I head back out I'll be doing a bit of caulking (found half a tube!) & then I'm gonna wander the back yard & find a Christmas tree to cut. & then back to the cutting & sanding & cutting & sanding ...

Got the rest of the gingerbread cut, another piece or so sanded, applied the caulk until I ran out, cut a tree. There's weather rolling in & my hands are DONE so that's it for today, at least for outside stuff.

I still want to rinse the remaining sawdust off of the sanded trim so I can paint it tomorrow, & put the tree up, but that's all inside stuff & can happen in SMALL STAGES.

I woke up with the entire next scene of where the firelight fades in my head in its full shining glory, solved the problems with the character interactions that were giving me fits, every word perfectly placed…

but the first thing I had to do today was get Thea-kitty to the vet (because, as the vet told us Thursday evening, they cannot wring out a tail and get a usable urine sample, and we were probably the last appointment before the vet closed for the day)

and by the time we were halfway there, I'd lost most of the scene

not that I was going to have any time to write today anyway, apparently

since there was not that much time between drop kitty at vet and head off to NaNoWriMo Thank God[s] It's Over party

and then I suppose I could have chosen to try to write between getting home from that and heading back to vet to collect kitty (but tbh it was at least as good a use of my time to kick at Wiktionary and a transliteration app until I got the Wēnzhōuhuà transliterations of a few phrases my friend wants for fic reasons)

and now it's quarter past five in the evening and I'm about ready to go to bed for the night 'cause no brain left

My little flute choir had our first of two performances today! We're playing Christmas music for a couple of retirement homes, and today went well and was a great time. :) Tomorrow I'm going to go see a friend's handbell concert, but I'm stressing about it a little bit because it's really out of the way by bus, so I'll be gone for a lot of hours. So my plan is to cook tonight so I'll have my week's worth of lunches and won't have to stress about it tomorrow, but... ugh, time.

...ooh, excellent! I bet the folks there LOVED it.(I ordered me a flute yesterday & I am SO EXCITE)

Also oogh lots of bus. :P But handbells are awesome & I bet the concert will be GREAT.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to hearing it! I think I'll slip out 15 minutes early to save myself an hour of waiting, but I really am excited about the concert.

I've done one of my last-minute crafty gifts today! And I'm partway through another! I switched from "Really complicated painting that I don't know how to pull off correctly" to "Simpler painting that still looks likely to turn out well."

I've got a bad case of the dunwannas, but I'm doing laundry and I'm going to work on my Dickens Fest hat, dammit. After I open up my laptop to try to figure out why it won't boot. It's old. I think it's likely dead.

Yep, far as I can tell, the laptop is toast and I don't really want to waste the money sending it to a tech for them to tell me that. Everything is backed up and honestly, I use my desktop more these days, but it's annoying.

I’m hoping to finish knitting the tote bag today as it’s my laundry day so the perfect time to do some felting. I’m also hoping to finish the crocheted hat today or early tomorrow. Deadline for the cabled bag is Thursday so I can use it when we go to see Star Wars on Friday afternoon.
