I finally finished organizing my office closet and hung up more pictures (I got my space art wall started!) I need to finish dusting and I'm waiting on some boxes (liquid electrical tape to patch up a cable, some frames, a clock), but my office looks awesome now! And all my projects and most of my tools are organized. (I need to redo my hardware toolbox, but I'm not sure what to do)
Hi! This comm is a lovely idea. I've been working on a fanfic for the first time since January, and I've managed to write a lot faster than usual (like, a scene a day, as opposed to a sentence or two a day) which is exciting! It's for a rarepair in a mostly dead fandom and I like to think I'll make the day of the single remaining person who ships it when they check Ao3 in a year's time, or something. I'm also keeping up with writing my reading roundups, which is good.
Kyoukai no Kanata! It's an anine I could get pretty rude about but ultimately I watched it first when I was about 13 and there's no going back from that.
I worked a little on a fic this morning—a new project I’m still working my way into, but that I’m excited about.
Then this afternoon I went to a demonstration for the first time (because USA, you know). I bring this up here because it felt like a personal victory over fear...and because I want to use this as a spark/inspiration for more action. It made the crushing despair feel more like something communities can manage together—even only for a moment.
Morning! Got my weekly goals all done (one pixel art, one non pixel art and one music track). This week the music track is what I am most proud of: https://soundcloud.com/icecheetah/memories I still think I'm a begeinner at this music making business.
I also did a little writing this week! I am doing the second draft of an original story set in a specific year, but I was trying to be ambiguous about the year in story. This past week I learned that something had happened in the real world, which was big news that year, that is... really relevant to a major plot point and it would seem weird if it didn't get a passing mention.
So I chose to reduce the ambiguity a bit and refer to that event rather than re-frame the story a whole year earlier. And opened up my draft just to add in a couple lines referring to the event. Not naming any persons involved though. For a reader it's probably just going to be a clue rather than a confirmation of the year.
I wonder if anyone will work it out.

I spilled red wine on my cross-stitch, so I threw it out and started over. Last night I ripped out everything I've done this week and will restart again doing it the way I know how. (I was trying to stitch all of the same color at once, but I do better stitching one section at a time.)
I also ordered some yarn to make another blanket. The insane part of my brain thinks I can get five blankets done by Christmas for the niece and nephews.
A new tournament has started in Nerdopolis (my crafting challenge community on Ravelry) so I have started ALL THE THINGS! I haven't made much progress on them, though. I'm restless these days with everything that's going on, and am having problems sitting still to focus on a task.
Anyway, here's the plans of what I'm going to make this month:
I finished a rewrite of an old queer romance story that I'd wanted to do for ages. In the process I made it over a third shorter, but a lot more happens, and I'm really proud of it!

Date: 2020-06-07 05:00 pm (UTC)Anyway, here's the plans of what I'm going to make this month:
* Celtic Dancer slippers in Flamingo-colored yarn
* Foliage Hat using Evergreen colored yarn
* Another playing cat amigurumi, just like the first one
* Finishing my Drinking Games Shawl
* A dragon of some sort, probably this one
Hopefully my crafting mojo will return soon, because I've got to get busy if I want to finish these all this month.
