It's been a tough week over here. Mom is doing better, but my back went out on Thursday and its still sore (but getting better). Today I'm watching the Bubonicon VirtualCon on Facebook, Youtube, and Zoom. ( http://www.bubonicon.com for the schedule and Zoom links).
The start of this week I was working on getting my meds, and I was successful, so that's a biggie.
I've mostly been playing video games (which is probably what messed up my back), but I put a couple of designs up on my Redbubble ( https://www.redbubble.com/people/argentwhiskers/shop if you want some cool 1990s/1980s inspired masks, plus all the Ursula Vernon glyphs I'd gotten done)
It's getting better! I think having to drive Mom to the doctor yesterday slowed things down (3 hour drive round trip), but pretty sure I'll be back to normal by Monday.
my main laptop died and I've been getting used to using the new one. It has... quirks. I'm behind, not done any art. Writing. And I need to catch up on sleep because I had an earache last night.
I'm hoping that maybe I can format my old one and get it fixed, maybe experiment with Linux. It's just a screen issue and it seems a waste to toss away what is otherwise a really good work laptop, with a LOT of space (1TB HDD vs my new one's 256GB SSD). (yeah died WAS a bit of an exaggeration but... this screen issue is so bad I am VERY glad I don't have photosensitive epilepsy).
And I'd BETTER sleep well tonight. I've got a Numenera session tomorrow!
I smacked my head on a door frame this morning so I'm taking it easy.
I am working on fixing the sock that i am knitting for my partner. The cast on wasn't stretchy and i was already to the heel gusset. So i put that on a string holder and took out the cast on and 1st row. Now I'm reknitting some of the ribbing and will do a stretchy bind off. I'm going to try the magic stretchy bind off. Fingers crossed it works.
I did stuff! I finished knitting a hat, and finished crocheting a skull shawl. Now I'm working on finishing my Drinking Games shawl I started a few months back.
I am visiting family, which sometimes feels like an accomplishment of its own: that strange mix of restful and exhausting. I’ve been eating and sleeping a lot and spending time in the sun, catching up with my siblings, and dancing around with my stepmom trying not to hit each other’s buttons.
The other day I started knitting for the first time in months. I had been making a baby blanket for a friend, but when I tried to use a Russian join to connect the next ball of yarn, it kept slipping undone. I had given up. This time I made it longer and it finally held. So I've been continuing with that.
It's a simple stockinette, but the beauty comes from the yarn - "dragonfly" is the name, but it reminds my friend of the aurora borealis, and her baby's name is Aurora, so... :)
