so it turns out the reason I was stuck for ages on firelight 14.2 is I had written all but the last paragraph of the scene, and that last paragraph is distinctly different from how the same plot moment would read if I were trying to do that and the next one in 14.2. (which is what I was trying to do to begin with.)
