It's been a stressful week over here. I've mostly played video games. But I cut my hair today!

I managed to hit my 2000 words for the week goal, but I did not quite hit my softer "finish the rough draft of this damn fic" goal. I am pretty close, but stupidly am struggling to limp along the finish line. Gonna try to make some progress tonight, and see if I can get there by mid- next week. Hoping that everything in the US doesn't just go straight to hell this week.

I did some swatches for a blanket I'm knitting. It's a graduation present for my nephew, so it has to be done by late May. I decided what pattern to use, and cast on and knit the first border.

I also started a crocheted shawl, but I'm running into problems with the pattern. Boo.

But really, this week has been massive amounts of video gaming. My MMO has a short-term event happening where you get points for trading in crafted items; the top 12 for each craft on each server get an ultra shiny title. I'm currently sitting at number 8 Carpenter. Most of the top 12 are likely doing Expert crafts, which are difficult and require top-tier gear. I lack such gear, so I am doing the regular craft. To get to my rank, I've basically been crafting all day. My best day total was 278 beds turned in on Day 3. Yeah, I'm pretty exhausted!

I haven't published anything this week but I did a lot of work towards finishing a big image project (it's going to be an "animated" .gif with databending when it's done) and learned more about doing 3D art in Blender! I'm mostly learning it so I can make 3D models of places that will happen a lot in the webcomic I'm planning, because I am a single person and I don't want to spend forever drawing the same BG again and again from different angles.
I also am close to finishing, in my composing, a remix that takes songs from two different games and puts them together!

I know most of how I want it to end, but actually *getting there* is a struggle, haha. (Also, I'm glad I was already planning to do a rewrite, because I keep discovering subplots I didn't realize I was seeding...)

I'm very impressed by the RANGE of projects you have going!

3D models of backgrounds seems to be a HUGE help for areas you have to spend a lot of time in in an ongoing series.

(Also, which games/songs? I don't know that I'll know them, but I LOVE mashups and remixes.)

Just a mix of songs from Yume Nikki and Doki Doki Literature club.

I think so... If I can make some of them a bit more intentional in draft two, I think they'll give a more satisfying weight to the conclusion. A couple others might get discarded, though, because I don't want to overcomplicate it!

I've definitely been guilty of that! Sometimes there's just so much that I *want* to do, I don't have *time* for all of it. (To say nothing of the energy required.)

Both of those are games that I know I would enjoy, but haven't ever played! I hope the remix/mashup is going well!

Yeah. The curse of being creative, I guess. So many ideas, so little time... so little spoons... and I want to LEARN so much too oTL.

Well both are free! It's just... time.. that's the problem...
(I still haven't played the Steam translation of the original Yume Nikki but I heard that it had some problems including an entire fan favourite event being inaccessible? I also heard there have been some fixes, but if you do get a chance to play it maybe the original fan translation would be better.)

That's absolutely the truth! It's so hard to pick which projects to focus on, because there are so many great possibilities out there!

Oooh, I didn't actually realize they were available free! I don't think my poor computer is up to them (painfully outdated OS), but I will save that factoid for a future in which I have a computer that can handle it. And thanks for the suggestion re: the original fan translation!

Well the original Yume Nikki was last updated in 2007 and it's a simple 2D game made using RPG maker. If your computer is too old to run it, you've taken AMAZING care of it.

And Doki Doki Literature Club is, while a lot more recent, still a visual novel witout voice acting so it might be okay? Though it's jus tthe sort of thing to use features older pcs don't have.

It's more that my poor computer is a terribly old macbook, and I haven't found an emulator that plays nicely on it. ^^; That said, damn, I didn't realize that Yume Nikki was quite that old... I do possibly have a little netbook I could borrow that's running XP, but might still work for that! I'm absolutely bookmarking the link - thank you!
