me: you weren't even four paragraphs into story-then, self, fixing it to be past tense will not be difficult also me: no. me: *waits another hour* also me: still no.
I mean I guess I could write the entire thing in present tense, but surely that will make the timeline unnecessarily difficult to decipher? either that or require the use of timestamps
azurelunatic says "First draft, don't worry about it", which I suppose is my own fault for saying out loud and in so many words that I want this story to be the one where I figure out how to make the distinction between first and subsequent drafts work for me (and which also meant I got farther in the scene), but editing
Finish out the scene in present tense, then switch to past tense/edit the scene? You'll still hopefully be able to ride the momentum that way, but might still be able to get into the tense you want for the next bit.
