I forgot it was Saturday somehow, but here we are.

What have you gotten done? How are you doing? What are your plans?

At the start of the month I said to myself, "I've just been let go from work, I can take a few weeks off and make a big pile of creative works." Then my life turned upside down [tale of woe redacted]. But I have drawn two drawings! I love having this place where you all understand what that means to me.

Yay for getting drawings done! It's such a great feeling, isn't it?

I am sad for [redacted] making your life a tale of woe, and you have my hopes that it is temporary.

I am glad that your drawing and creative life is being an outlet for you, and may your illustrations find ways to continue such self-soothing.

Hey don't I know you from somewhere? :D Seriously, though, thank you very much. This comment means a lot to me.

Hee! Indeed! We both comment a fair bit over at [profile] verhalens journal. And I’m glad that you liked the comment, even though it seems like basic decency to validate people’s experiences?

I am going to win NaNoWriMo today, I decided.

There's 1k words left and I am honestly getting kind of sick of working on this project, sigh. (I'm only halfway through it, too. Even with the win there's like 45k words left to do.) I wanna be done! I wanna work on other things! So many other stories! Too many stories.

So. That's what I'm doing, and I'm not going to let anything get in my way. NaNoWriMo had better be on guard!

I got started on the new sewing project (skirt o giant pockets). So far this has been 90% setup, a bit of cutting out, and 4 (count them!) short seams to test which size I should do. Did I say 90% setup? More like 98% lol. I am currently swearing at the proposed cutting layout.

I made some comments in the Sewing reddit - one well-thought-out and cogent rant about how terrible the major sewing pattern brands are (2 upvotes) and one throwaway comment about a critical Wisdom fail (1200+ upvotes). Le sigh.

Meanwhile, do I take my own advice? Of course not. I'm using a BurdaStyle pattern for the skirt, and the instructions can charitably be described as minimal. At least they're not physically impossible.

I hope the skirt turns out cute and pocket-ful, despite its humble and terse beginnings on paper.

Thanks! In an effort to return balance to the universe, I've stopped cursing at the suggested layout and started cursing at the fabric for not being quite wide enough for me to optimize the layout I want. And cursing at my cutting table for being surrounded by clutter. How dare it!

I'm once again using celestial-themed calico for the mockup, so the "fabric of the universe" jokes are flowing freely.

Because being a nerd is awesome!

I think all craft space breeds clutter. It can’t possibly be any one person’s fault if they’re all like that, that’s just logic!

I taught myself double knitting this week off work to do a hat brim! Eventually I want to make double knit colorwork scarves and such, but that will have to happen later.

I am juggling projects and somehow managing to punch above my weight on keeping organized? Which idk how that’s happening but I’ll take it.

I blocked the two pieces of the robe collar that I had to make last week. I has made the original collar for the robe too short. This fixed it & turned out ok. I still have to get the collar on the robe as well as the sleeve cuffs. Then it will be Done! (I m looking forward to it being Done.)
