Having gotten the house to the point where we can live in it (though we're really hoping the code guy doesn't come back for a WHILE) I've been catching up on stuff like 'code an entire business finances spreadsheet because the site I used to use WENT AWAY WITH ONE MONTH'S WARNING A WHILE BACK' & also 'hmm we need to chop more wood'. So both of those, plus the usual packing orders & general survival stuff. Also sleeping, SO MUCH sleeping, there's been a LOT of sleeping, it is GOOD.

I cut out 2 entire panels for the skirt prototype. I quickly determined I am having one of those weeks where I should not be allowed near sharp objects. I don't think I mutilated the paper pattern (much) but I'm scared to look.

So instead I got out the Pusheen cross-stitch kit and am working on a second Pusheen. It's going much better with a proper tapestry needle and a needle threader. In addition to using blunt needles(*), cross stitch also has the wonderful feature that when you screw up, you can unpick the stitches and do it over and no one will ever know.

(*) It's very difficult to draw blood with a tapestry needle. But not impossible.

BUT YES for most people a tapestry needle is gonna keep em safe.

Keeps you safe until you step on the needle which is upright in the carpet, then you have 1" of needle in your foot. But yes, even I don't normally make myself bleed with my tapestry needle.

Do yourself a favor and pick up some size 26 tapestry needles and maybe a needle threader. The needles that came in my kit are WILDLY inappropriate. The instructions are also terrible. But still! Pusheen!!

My big project since forever has been crocheting blankets for each member of my immediate family: my sisters, their husbands, and their kids.

Not only have I finished them, but I've washed them to get all the cat hair out since several of my relatives are allergic to cats. That's because my cat decided to comfort-rate every single blanket. They've all been rated "ideal for napping."
