Yesterday I started sewing together the first quilt block. Despite judicious use of washi tape on the front of the machine, I discovered (a) I was having one of those days where I couldn't sew straight, or at least not parallel to anything useful; and (b) I hadn't cut the strips correctly in the first place (they were quite consistently all too narrow at one end!).

So I repurposed the strips for seam practice. Now I have a collection of half-inch wide scraps with seams of varying wonkiness piling up in the bin. Today I'll cut new strips, do as much more seam practice as I can, and then try again.

I have trouble with all manner of physical objects! It's a good thing I work in data.

also, how the hell I got put in charge of duvet covers is a mystery for the ages. :D
