I gotta tell ya, switching from a Mac using Qwerty (work) to a Windows using Dvorak (home) is really messing with me

Wow, yes, that is a lot of changes in your setup, sounds like quite the mindfuck, honestly! I hope you can reap the promised productivity benefits of Dvorak eventually.

This weekend, I had the goal to do enough for uni beforehand so I could a) take Saturday off from studying and b) write penpal letters for 4-5 hours and c) potentially do some penpal-related crafting that I have been putting off for months at this point.

So far:
a) is achieved
b) on Saturday, I did 2 hours of writing and finished 2 letters. So half of what I set out to do but maybe, I can get a little more done tonight? We shall see.
c) Nothing so far but I think this was too ambitious, seeing how I started out the weekend excessively exhausted from both work and uni. If I get 15 mins on this done, I will be happy but I am expecting no progress here right now.

I've been using Dvorak for ages. It's the muscle memory and Mac's option keys being different that's screwing me up. Fortunately I don't do a lot of typing on the Mac.

Ooooh, I didn't think I would ever meet a Dvorak user in the wild. I have been curious about using that keyboard layout for ages but can't seem to pull the trigger to try it, haha.

When you are on a computer with the option keys set up in the most convenient way for you, do you find the claims of faster typing speed and more comfort to be true for Dvorak vs QWERTY layout? I am so curious!

More comfort for sure. Typing speed seems to be about the same, but I'm not typing anywhere the quantity I did at the peak of my qwerty usage

Oh, thank you so much for sharing your experience! Makes sense that typing speed would correlate with amount of typing done. I think mine has suffered a little, too, since I am on the laptop far less and am more often on my phone. I am still wondering whether I should get a bluetooth keyboard to help with typing on my phone, hehe.
