I'm working on the next chapter of the one where Victor skips his Nationals medal ceremony, and I'm trying to work on my yoidigizine submission and about five other WsIP, but I have momentum on the one I'm working on. For some values of "momentum", since apparently my brain point blank refuses to allow me to proceed until I have decided whether the next bit is on Twitter or Instagram and added the relevant CSS to the work skin accordingly.

The only thing I did this week was (finally?) apparently loose my will, passion and interest for writing. I have to find a new hobby, I guess.

Working on final exams for the students, gathering all the books I want to read for the 2024 Popsugar reading challenge and I want to get started on 2 anthology open calls

I have creative ambitions but it's been a very difficult time. PTSD is highly active during the holidays for the collective, so being creative is on the back burner, more or less.

So right now when I'm able to, I think about rainbowfic (particularly those colors the collective want to pick up as part of the 400 lists fest), and about the current chapter in progress for Under Summer Stars, which can be summed up as "Hades tells Persephone and the children a bedtime story about that time Kid Ares stumbled into the Underworld." It's a small break from the higher stakes drama, but carries on the pattern of knitting distant, past events into the present.

aj found a neat book: "The Little Drawing Workshop: 52 Weeks of Drawing Lessons", and plans to go through it week by week.

While aj has been doing art for a few years now, aj always likes to look at a different point of view on art creating. And a skim had some interesting lessons we didn't see in older drawing books we have.

The first week is interesting but hard for the collective to do: setting up a place dedicated to art. We have one small room to work with, it's a little ??? for aj.

However, aj thinks a specific soundscape for arting will help the most anyways. It's not so much about having a specific place as it is finding a way to easily get into a creative mode no matter how you feel (most of the time).

It was also interesting to look at the art spaces of other artists. Nobody is neat XD

Mostly dealing with Christmas presents atm, but also finishing a story in The Untamed fandom, and practicing brush-strokes for signwriting, as I've got a commission to put the name on another narrowboat.

Mostly scrambling to find rent money. Need $500 in two days, so... looks like I have to sell my PS5 because, that's the only thing of *value* that we have and it sucks, because that's the way *I* watch TV, but GOD FORBID anyone else lose anything in this house.

I've got a lot of projects to get done this month, but today I'm focusing on finishing the final-pass edit of my comic script.

Hoping to print it out tomorrow, so I can move on to other parts of the process... and to post the first page before the end of this year!

My main goals for the week are:

Finish knitting the pair of slippers I'm working on.

Clean the living room enough for the tree to go up.

Finish making holiday cards and start sending them out.

Bake something, anything off the to bake list, but preferably the thank you cookies for my neighbor.

Get any and wishlists finished and submitted/posted.

If I could get some writing done, that would be lovely, but I'm not holding my breath.

I got some more quilting practice in - I've pieced the top for the teddy bear quilt and learned how to optimize the piecing process a little.

I also am preserving the narrow corridor of open space in the craft room that I had to open up for the heat pump installation, just for the sheer novelty of space.

Of course I have found YET MORE inspiration for complicated quilting layouts on Reddit. I haven't even dared cut into the shirt panels for the memory quilt; what makes me think sewing anything more elaborate than squares is a good idea?!

Last Wednesday it would have been my brother's birthday. That was a rough day.

(Trying to be more active on dw, hello! :) )

I was knitting a pair of leggings but my circular needle broke, T.T First project I used it on! It wasn't even that cheap?? Well, now I gotta get a new one, or a second set of DPNs in that size... I'm knitting the legs, and while I could do them one at a time on the DPNs I have, I'm putting random stripes in them, and it'd be an utter pain to match the second leg... So! Over to the sweater I'm also knitting and that's not that far from done... Gotta say, knitting something on 5 mms after you've worked on 2.5mms for a while is odd, : )

Also writing, fanfic and other- want to start posting it to here, too!

And I wanted to do a Christmas... branch craft. But haven't got the materials, (glue gun, wire...) and keep not getting around to ordering them... Oh well. We'll see!

I won NaNoWriMo! It was my 9th win for the full 50k, 12th win counting Camp NaNoWriMo participation. I'm working on a fantasy short story that is part of my long-time fantasy universe, and something I might want to clean up well enough to submit it somewhere for publication (any suggestions welcome!). I need to slow down and catch up on my DW feed, so hopefully I can do that this weekend.
