I am new to dreamwidth and to this community. I am wondering if there are any fellow jewelry makers or loom knitters in this community? Those are my two main forms of crafting, but interested in all forms of crafting.

I do both! Jewelry designing and making has very much taken a back seat during this past 10 months of disability - too much brain fog. Loom knitting has worked well for me during this time. Mostly I make simple hats that I can do without thinking -- one stitch and 25 rows! -- but I've been branching out and am currently making my third loom-knitted axolotl.

That is great. Are you using loomahats pattern? I have a hat in the works currently, but thinking about starting on a baby blanket.

Yeah, most of the loom knitting stuff I do are from her designs: fingerless gloves, a billion premie hats, the axolotls, bookmarks, hook covers, and an ornament/cat toy. Ive mostly learned from her videos; I'm not sure I could have mastered even loom knitting without the videos, though generally, I'm a learn-from-books person.

We have too many afghans-as-gifts that remain in our closets for me to be tempted to knit blankets. :)

Yeah, loomahat is my go to video person. Someday I am going to make axalotis too. I have made several of the tiny cat. Made a couple of her dolls too. Plan to make more of both in the future.

Hi! Those aren't my main crafts but the meet and greet post at allbingo, here is all about crafting and there's at least one spinner there. (Apologies if you've already posted there. It takes me a while to get to know usernames.)

There's also get_knitted which is a daily posting craft community which welcomes all crafters.

I've done a bit of jewelrymaking, mostly earrings, but also some other applications of beadwork like magical artifacts and window ornaments. Here's an example of a window ornament that I assembled with beadwork. I don't think I have any jewelry pictures online though.

I think I've seen some other folks post jewelry here before, so you may find some.

allbingo is running a bingo fest for National Crafting Month and it has a meet-and-greet too.

For resources about Dreamwidth for newcomers, there are communities like reddit_refugees and getting_started. Watch for Three Weeks for Dreamwidth (April 25-May 15) which has a lot of activity; that's a good time to post about your main interests and find like-minded folks.
