Mmm cranberry!

I've done more of the Haunted Graveyard cross stitch. I cut out the cargo pockets for the fuzzy PJ pants and pressed the pleats but haven't felt competent to run the sewing machine yet.

Our Thanksgiving dinner included veggies from our garden! Shallots, potatoes, carrots, and onions (in the stuffing). Okay so maybe that was our ENTIRE harvest of most of those; but I'm still really pleased.

In the course of holiday events, Mr Diane and I also cleared off quite a bit of kitchen counter space as well as the ENTIRE dining room table. I could get used to having this much space!

Having extra new space is always important! I hope you can use it for something useful!

I was just thinking of this comm today. I hope you're okay, admin.

Accomplished:
2 comic sketches. This was entirely done for practice AND brainstorming something I want to make soon. I learned a lot but I'm really tired rn so just read my latest liveblog (https://zenigotchas.dreamwidth.org/427939.html) and then follow up (https://zenigotchas.dreamwidth.org/428578.html) about it if you're curious what I've learned.

I DID start something for [community profile] sweetandshort but I've been so tired, busy and stressed that it's still a draft and I really don't feel like finishing it rn. It's Mario fanfiction.... I have not written that since I was in highschool, lol.

I also did more perspective drawings? If I'm remembering right? Yes I did. And I started working on my chickens. I had a bit of breakdown while I did it but I'm more grounded and ready to figure them out... I did a lot of drawing just for fun too which was a welcome change of pace.

I read more of my book today. I've been avoiding finishing it because it's boring as hell. I think this is proof I should look up analysis for it because it's probably really deep if it's so boring to me.

I skipped celebrating Thanksgiving which was good self care for me.

Do you have any backup mods who can help run the comm?

I'm curious as to what book you are reading... Sometimes I take a break when a book gets boring. Then I go back to it in a few weeks or months. Sometimes we just aren't in the right head space, you know what I mean?

Oh this is a short story by Anton Chekhov, aptly titled A Boring Story. I don't want to take a break cuz I wanna be over with it already, plus I am getting back into reading so anything that makes me read, no matter how boring, is worth it to me.

The night before thanksgiving I made two kinds of cookies to take & I mended a small hole in my partner's shirt. Both were a success! The cookies were well received & the mend wasn't noticed by my partner at all. He prefers invisible mending so I'm happy about that.

Tonight I darned a hole in one of my socks & I sorted my leftover threads. I still have 3 socks with holes to darn but I'll do it later.

I'm happy about the cookies and the mending! Is darning hard to do? I haven't but I am curious to try! It seems like such a waste to throw out a pair of socks over one little hole.

I got a darning kit to help me learn but it's fairly easy. This video short is a good example of the technique. I just used embroidery thread that matched the sock.

......What recipes did you try?

Also how hard is invisible mending? It sounds tough.

Invisible mending is trying to mend so the mend doesn't show & it looks like the new garment. In this case I use a thread that matched and stiches that matched the striped patten of the shirt.

I tried a new recipe for pecan shortbread. https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/pecan-shortbread/

it's sort of a team of monster hunters ala Buffy or Supernatural set at a rural college in the 1980s

I'm actually taking a bit of a break this week with art because I have some social things going on due to my birthday.
But I have been getting close to finishing up a jigsaw puzzle with my boyfriend. And I have been sewing and fixing up some old jeans that I don't want to get rid of just yet. And lastly I have been close to adding the last of my extra stamps to my postal stamp collection. :-)

Narissia, my November project, was finished on November 30th. It was a rewrite of an edited piece that I did. Now, I need to do the "pitch letter" and start farming it out to agents and publishers.

I also baked three pies in two days (one is gone). Made dulce de leche, did the full Thanksgiving spread, and just BAKED a lot.

This will be my life for the weekends for the foreseeable future.
