I'm back working on 1290.

I've been doing daily pages this week, using a psychotherapy book to ungunk my brain.

Good luck everyone, I don't have the energy to directly root but just know I see you.

I was productive. I worked more on this chicken practice drawing I had taken a big break from. I did so much work on my comic book, I think it's better now, the plot makes a bit more sense, the characters are a bit more realized and everyone has their own motivation. Oh and the action scenes happen a lot faster without being as a breakneck pace. Not winning an Eisner, but it's mine and that's all that matters.

Otherwise I mostly worked with productivity tools and scheduling and learned a little bit about developing better media literacy!

I also made some time to play more DS Cute and am gonna try to get in some comic reading today (more Sonic The Comic!)

Edit: I also listened to a new metal album and that's always fun

I roasted a whole chicken and then shredded the meat. We will freeze most of it for later. Also I took the skin, plus some I had saved in the freezer to make schmaltz.

My dog is sick so I made him some chicken rice porridge. I used the chicken wings to make the stock & the meat in it. He's a pomeranian so that was enough

tenminutesaday has really been the kick in the pants I've needed to get writing. I don't necessarily do the prompt every day but I'd say I do more often than not. I definitely recommend it for a friendly, low-stakes writing community!

I really, really want to show off world of the untold story, my OCs small web revival mini site! I've been working a lot on that page + writing fic for my characters this week!! (I almost said "working hard" but it's not hard work, it's just for fun… and I'm really enjoying it! I've been in a "writing sucks and I hate it" slump for a long time so I'm really excited to find joy in it again.)

I've finally finished the knitting on a black sweater vest I've been making for a while.

The novel I've been working on the first draft of for like a year and a half is finally at the "write notes on what needs to be in the ending and let it rest" stage. Which is... whew. End of an era.

I need to get moving on my Gideon the Ninth reread with notes. I had contemplated if I wanted to post the notes somewhere but... I don't know.

I got stuff for thyme and lavender scones with lemon icing this weekend. It's supposed to be super cold so getting the oven working will be a good idea I think!

My room is almost packed. My son's room is packed. The books in the living room are packed. There's so much more to pack! I'm so tired. I haven't packed today. And yet, I'm panicking. I'm panicking to the point that I've frozen myself. Now, to go eat.

back working on pulling my sabbatical research together and I need to finish a horror short

I have a few things in progress, but I decided to focus on wrapping up one meta and one fanfic. I'm new to meta essays and haven't written much fanfic before, so I'm learning a lot. It's been fun so far. My goal now is to not overwhelm myself by trying to do too much.

The last couple days were a break brought on by just being too damn tired after work, but last week in general was surprisingly productive for writing, so I'm happy about that!

I've also been reading a lot more since the new year, and am trying to keep that energy up!

Right now I'm trying to decide on whether I want to participate in an art event for next month. It's "NaMoPaiMo" - National Model Painting Month - dedicated to painting a model equine in the month of February. (Very niche? Yes!) I've done it several years in the past, and I'd like to do it again... but I'm afraid of losing my writing and reading momentum if I pivot to focus on something else for a month.

All of the above sound great! Congrats on the knitting! Coming to the end of a draft always brings up a lot of mixed feelings for me - it's exciting, but also kind of bittersweet after so much time and effort. And those scones sound delicious.

That is a very good goal - it's so easy to get overwhelmed by a ton of projects, so focusing on just a couple at a time is a great plan!
