Henlo, everyone!

This is my first official post to the community. I read the rules, but if I made any violations, please, please, please let me know and I will correct my mistake(s)!

This isn't a recent thing I created, but I have been thinking a lot about it lately and wanted to share my thoughts:

This is a painting I started back in 2016/2017. In all honesty, it is basically "unfinished". When I declared it "done" in 2018, I hated this painting. I mean, I loved its potential, but I felt like I was lacking in my ability to really bring it to where I wanted it to be. The more time has passed and the more I look at this piece, the more I begin to appreciate it for what it is.

As artists, we hear a lot about "finding your voice" and our style. I have had a very hard time feeling like I have found anything close to what fits those descriptions, but in this piece, I feel like I understand those concepts a little more. This is probably the most illustrative piece I have done and I just worked based on what I thought needed to be done without thinking too hard about it. The process was intuitive. There is a lot about the process with this piece that I loved and I really hope I can continue to do more like it.

I don't really know what my actual point is, other than I hope that sharing these thoughts with you all inspires you to look back on things you've created that you weren't quite proud of at the time, and possibly find a new appreciation for those things now.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Cheers,
Heather "Rue"
