I have a new "lantern" style terrarium that is open at the top, which I got when someone I know struck up a conversation about terraria and asked if I wanted it. Currently it's full of plastic plants and other decor. I'll need to pull that out at some point so I can put live plants inside. Given the open top, I'm thinking about air plants, which like a little extra humidity but don't absolutely require it. I can put some on a branch or something. I have a green-and-yellow glass egg that I just got with that project in mind.

Also on the aesthetics side, I posted about Goblincore over in thefreaksclub.

I got a subscription to Enchanted Living Magazine and I'm loving that. It's a very visual magazine with lots of art and photography, multiple crafts, some fiction and poetry, nonfiction articles, etc. If you like fantasy arts and crafts, definitely take a look. They sell back issues if the subscription is too steep.

I finished the Poetry Fishbowl report for June. Next up will be Tuesday, July 1 with a theme of "Weaponized Incompetence and Malicious Compliance." I encourage folks to drop by and leave me prompts then.

Sadly limited by sweltering weather. I'm missing much of the mulberry and possibly all of the raspberry season. :(

sorry about the berry season. I went after a few mulberries and got harrassed by chipmunks (it was too hot to do much anyhow)

I saw a chipmunk at the Charleston Food Forest recently. I haven't seen one in town before, and rarely even in the big parks nearby, but I can see why the food forest would attract extra wildlife. It squeaked and ran when it saw me, so I didn't even get a picture.

I got another few chapters of my writing project finished up this past week, and got the next section all nicely plotted out. I was going to take some time this afternoon to dive into the first draft of that bit (the climax! Exciting!), but then I got spontaneously invited to a roller derby bout, so I'm going to do that instead and will get to writing another time. There are worse ways for plans to suddenly change!

Gardening is... going. The angelica has been looking very poorly of late, and I finally realized it's got an insect infestation I had previously missed. Sprayed all the bugs off and got some neem oil on the plant, and now I'm just hoping I didn't catch it too late. I also harvested all the tulsi from the indoor hydroponics, and cleaned out the hydroponic system so I can re-start with something new - probably lemon balm and dill, for tea and cooking respectively.

Tomorrow I'm planning to strain out the cuticle oil I started a few weeks ago. Very curious to see how it works, and if I'll need to tweak the recipe at all. I don't think any of the other oils or tinctures I've got in the cabinet are ready to strain yet, but I'm sure I'll have a big herbalism weekend coming up one of these days.

So, I have a new story that kinda petered out. But I plan on working on it tomorrow, some. But, I am also working on my rewrite of Demons and Dirigibles. Ugh. So much to do.

But I also have done laundry today. More will be done tomorrow. I took today to chill.

Welp, after the better half of a year, I’ve finally wrapped up a whopping thousand words’ worth of a first draft for me to edit over the next couple weeks (as per a non-negotiable publishing date I’ve put a pin in, to coincide with the anniversary of a release in the franchise this fic lifts from). Alongside that, I also have an AO3-exclusive appendant to get around to now that the original contest entry it’s for has been submitted proper—and the sunshine_revival in mind, amongst other things, to (ideally) indeed start reviving my journal proper in July…

…I’d hope that I don’t sink too much time into RAIDOU Remastered instead, but Umamusume: Pretty Derby is probably the bigger threat to my free time by way of scratching my raising sim itch something fierce. (The cute anime girls help too, of course.)
