What are you working on? What have you finished? What do you need encouragement on?

Are there any cool events or challenges happening that you want to hype? I've been neglecting Dreamwidth - tell me what I'm missing!

What do you just want to talk about?

What have you been watching or reading?

Thanks

I have a Hazbin Hotel long fic I'm working on. I just need more hours in a day

I also have a novel in the works, a sequel to my 1980s monster hunting one and I'm taking a long short story from a failed open call and trying to expand it into a novella because almost no one wants stories in the 10-15K range except the publisher I originally wrote this for. It's appalachian horror

Done!

I'm still hacking away at the to-be-posted list from the Holiday Poetry Sale. There are a bunch of long ones left, and a few short ones.

I did the January Poetry Fishbowl on Tuesday 6 with a theme of "Short Forms." \o/

I have made my list of goals for 2026 and started on them. So far I have finished 3 and begun 19. I'll begin another tomorrow by making a new recipe, which is a molasses coconut pie for my partner.

A big creative project I am currently working on is website updates with help from a couple friends.

The contorta willow fell down; I'm eyeing it as possible craft material.

I've started making orders for spring planting. :D

>> What have you been watching or reading? <<

We finished watching Love Death + Robots season 4. It includes two of the best spec-fic cat stores of all time, "The Other Large Thing" and "For He Can Creep." <3 We've thrown in a few other bits. Dancing with the Birds was surprisingly vivid. Apparently birds of paradise tend to have bright colors inside their mouths -- yellow, neon blue, pumpkin orange. Next show planned will be The Great Pottery Throw Down.

I finished reading Turns of Fate. I am currently reading ... seed catalogs.

>> Chores and other not-fun things count! <<

I have leaves raked about halfway around the firepit. I put some on the daffodil bed. I was going to do the tulip bed but things are already sprouting there. 0_o I have most of the brushpile by the driveway broken down, aside from bigger pieces that need to be dragged away. Progress.

Wow, that is a lot! Go you!

Also, YAY seed catalogs. I would say don't go too crazy, but you know what? GO WILD. Show hope for the future. Plant all the things!

I first found this saying on a magnet, which I hung on my indoor planter: "Life is short. Buy the plants." I wanted it on a T-shirt, but the one with the cutest picture was white. I bought it anyway. I figure if I go plant shopping and don't come home dirty, it's been a bust of a day. Some things are meant to get dirty. :D

As for wild, I practice laissez-faire permaculture. I put out native plants to make a model ecosystem. Sometimes Gaia throws in extras like the cup plants, elderberry bush, and wild grapevines. I have smaller gardens for things like exotic flowers, herbs, and a few vegetables. It's very popular with wildlife.

Oh Great Pottery Throw Down, I adored that show. Makes me want to try pottery again! I hope you find lots of good options in the seed catalogs.

I'm finding some interesting seeds, yes. :D First order is made, and I need one more to finish my goal of 2 by February.

I'm going back to work tomorrow after winter break and I am not looking forward to it. I've just, after three weeks off, started writing again and feeling enthusiastic about other creative projects. I'm worried I'm going to lose all of that once I go back to my toxic job.

I’m trying to get used to using my new acrylic markers for art.

I finished a chapter of one of my wips last Wednesday, but I need to branch out of my fandom more.

I've finished the top part of my Mos Eisley sampler and now I'm working on the city at the bottom. Good thing is that it's only three colors so I don't have to search through a pile of floss bobbins anymore.

Is that the "Bless this wretched hive of scum and villainy" one? I've seen that a few times on Reddit, it's a fun one! Anyway, sounds like a fun stitch & it'll be a fun result.

I am adjusting to retired life (or am I?). So far it still kind of feels like an extended holiday break.

I've made some progress on a couple of cross stitch WIPs (WsIP?). As was foretold by the prophecy, I hate hate HATE doing confetti stitches of white on black.

Finally going to try participating here -- been lurking for a while :P

Drawing-wise, I'm working on a Pokemon pride flag (and will be for a while) and a comic for my friend's fic.

Writing-wise, the siren call of a longfic is starting to sink in. Been flirting with a planning doc. It'll be a lot of work... I think I'm up to it? Also have an original short story that's sitting in the proverbial fridge until I read something gorgeous that inspires me to edit it properly. And hopefully! Submit! :O

Reading: Going to start Morality Play by Barry Unsworth either tonight or tomorrow. Not a book, but I started Pokemon Yellow again (mostly to get my ass in gear to actually work on the pokemon pride flag lol), I named my pikachu DA BABY. On the hunt for an oddish because vileplume is one of my favorites.

I've been working on a scarf for my partner with some lovely yarn. It's garter so it's very easy to pick up & work on while watching TV.

I'm trying to work on meal planning for the week. Due to health issues we're trying to switch to lower carb diet, which is new. I didn't realize how much starch & carbs we have been eating.
It means I have to find mostly new recipes to use. I normally try to do like 1-2 new recipes a week so this is a lot
