Better late than never! Time to check in about last week and tell us your plans about next week.

Remember, you're not limited on getting support about creative projects - chores, homework, whatever is open too

Last week I was working on a hat that I needed to rip back because my stitch count was off. I did the thing! I have reached a point where I can call the hat finished and submit it to my crafting tournament. The hat does fit me but the brim is on the tight side, so I'll probably rip back again and do less decreases. But that can wait a while.

I also crocheted a coaster this week, and am halfway done with another hat.

Now, a query for the group: Does anyone have dinner recipe recommendations? I'm a middle aged adult living with her aging parents, and mom is slowing down and not up to cooking as much. So it will likely fall to me more often. Problem is (a) I don't enjoy cooking, (b) my repertoire of dishes is SMALL.

Dad won't eat cream sauces (and doesn't eat most vegetables but we ignore that limitation and make veggies anyway), so no Chicken Alfredo or creamy soups. I'm technically allergic to mushrooms but I never liked them anyway, so would prefer recipes without them. Otherwise I'm wide open to suggestions.

We have a crockpot and rice cooker but no Instant Pot or air fryer.

I think I missed last week, right?
This last fortnight I'd been focusing on korean and I've been studying anatomy for artists (including learning all sorts of anatomical terms... that I didn't learn in my years of studying biology oTL (to be fair what I wound up was a master's degree in ECOLOGY and I'd been aiming to work in conservation). And when I was writing I was mostly working on stuff for a podcast I'll be a guess in... tonight if all goes well! I also did a couple Blaseball fanfics the week before and worked a bit on the continuation of one.

I have been a wreck all week from pain and fucked up sleep. Haven't been able to make it out to the garage once. Hoping to be able to get back to my furniture commissions soon.

I have managed a decent amount of writing for the first time in years though, so that's cool. Almost done with this story.

I was about to go into this post bemoaning that I haven't done anything creative in ages, but I have actually been doing a few simple 3D models for a friend who is working on a game. I am very very new to 3D modeling, but having a list of items to make is much easier than going off on my own. I always want to make humans, and those are so hard to model. Turns out making things like silverware and dish sets is easy enough even for me. Even if they are all inside out for some reason.

My brain has been stuck on gardening for the past few weeks though. I guess it's a good season for it. I have my own yard for the first time in my life and I'm overflowing with ideas for it. For now, I've just been going out every once and a while and pulling up some invasive vines that are growing around the edges, and my room-mate and I rearranged the absolutely awful flagstone path someone put down before. Once it settles it will look Much better.

I can't really do too much gardening until we get someone in to get rid of all the stumps in the yard (previous owners cut down every single tree :( ) and they're not coming until next week...but once they're done, the plan is to try and de-thatch as well as I can with a rake and then spread some clover seed to try and start conditioning our awful clay soil. I've been looking into a few native groundcover plants as well, so I might get some other seeds to spread in with the clover and just kind of see what grows and what doesn't.

You know, I guess gardening is creative work, too.
