 It's a bit late, but here's your weekly check in post!

What have you been working on? What have you gotten done? What's been challenging?

Writing, writing, writing... my goal is to finish 3 WIPs and get them out the door this month.

I've also done a tiny bit of drawing and also am working on some of my planner stuff. I want to create a resource blog or thingie that's resources for having a planner or bujo that isn't femme. Making washi tape out of beer labels worked great the first time I did it, but I've been struggling to come up with a reliable method for it. I may be moving slow as molasses on some art and design stuff, but it is not forgotten.

Huh 🤔

Beer label washi tape sounds very Texan*. I wonder if you could sell that on Etsy …?

* they said, from their home outside of Dallas

I don't think I could sell what I make, but maybe beer labels would make a good washi design. I am just using the labels on the beers I drink.

Of course you don’t have to sell stuff, I was just wondering aloud whether there’s a big underserved market gap for dudes who need to stay organized but don’t want to be boring about it.

Turning trash into art is the start of so many crafts! Mosaic from broken tiles, turning dead car parts into welding sculpture, fabric scraps into quilts, leftovers and snaccidents into amazing new fusion dishes. I salute your ingenuity!

Oh yeah, I am hope to cater to that but with like a blog or something. The vast, vast majority of journal supplies, inspo and even planners are very femme. Part of the problem is that not all markers are good for planners due to bleed, and the sets made for planners tend to be organized around pinks. I am trying to make a resource for that that I've got like... 3 or 4 things for it.

A lot of local beers have labels that are basically stickers, but they are hard to cut up and use because the adhesive is so strong they want to cling to scissors. But they provide nice color palettes and also do record experiences :)

I finished building my first keyboard! It was a big learning experience, and I'm really satisfied with how it turned out.

I've been writing more of this informative article on how to moderate big bangs/resources for fan events. I'm about 2000 words in, and I feel like I've barely brushed the surface.

I picked up my partner's robe to work on it again. It was almost done but I found out the collar is way to short. I lengthened the robe and forgot to so to the collar. I measured the missing pieces and did most of the length of one of them. Yay for large needles and chunky yarn.

This week I've been slowly working on:
* Elf cowl - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-green-elf-cowl
* Other cowl - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/free-for-all-cowl
* Artfully Simple Angled Scarf - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/artfully-simple-angled-scarf
* Peppermint Swirl Blanket - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/peppermint-throw-and-pillow

I could use some cheering on that last one - it's not going as fast as I'd like. My goal is to get it finished by Christmas as a gift to myself, but there's still a heck of a lot left to do.

Also: on Friday I crocheted a hat as a last-minute request for my sister, who was going to a college football game on Saturday. Sister is very crochet-worthy; she is always appreciative of what I make, and she paid me for it! Still, I was a bit rankled at the last-minute request, as I had plans for the day and this threw them up in the air. I'm pretty sure the request was mom's idea, not sister's - mom has never been very considerate of my time.

So far today, I:
* Downloaded two of my streams off Twitch
* Uploaded one stream to YouTube
* Knit another wedge on the elf cowl
* Knit another repeat on the other cowl

Will probably do more later, but right now I'm taking a video game break.

Tomorrow night on stream I'll be finishing my playthrough of Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, so I'm trying to decide what to stream next. Options are in my journal, here if anyone wants to give their input!

That peppermint swirl blanket looks very seasonally appropriate and I hope it is warm and cozy. Even if it is not done by midwinter, both peppermints and blankets can be appreciated year round.

I’m sorry your mom is behind the times on understanding how to respect other peoples’ crafts and schedules. I would wish for her to be gifted an artisanally-crafted clue for Christmas, but those can be so expensive!

Luck with the gaming and such also!

Brainstorming a lot, I did work on one of my fanfic writing projects earlier this week. It's not a lot of writing but even a little writing is a victory for me rn recovering from covid.

Oof! Yeah, I’ve heard that Covid can be disabling for survivors and I do not wish fatigue and brain fog on anyone. You have my sympathies.

Good luck and many kudos on your fanfic!

Finished another chapter of my podcast of Shiome's 'Last Of Our Kind.' And took the signwriting public for the first time by painting our house number on our bins. I think it looks good, though I say it myself :)

I haven't felt like writing in a long while. I'm glad I've been able to force it for NaNo, but I keep hoping to find motivation and excitement that just doesn't seem to be there.

I'm sorry you haven't felt like writing. It's always frustrating when you want to, but just can't find any enthusiasm for it. :/

I am knitting/making a pattern for a winter witch doll; it's slow going, because i made a computer program to create gradient patterns for the skirt, and now i'm knitting it up so the skirt goes from light grey to dark at the hem - but i'm learning new skills as i go, it's just a bit tedious and i have to be at my laptop to read the pattern which is a downer
