It's Inktober, so creative energy is going into that. Need to reel it in and do actual work with the grading and deadlines, too.

Haven't done anything today (except fix clothing), but White did comics yesterday based off of crazy things some ex-roommates did/said and conversations we've had about it. (Vaguely nsfw) Link if anyone wants to read the two he has up.

I've got the initial pockets ready to turn inside-out for about twenty-eight future marble mazes. I'm hoping to have them done by Friday.

I've also officially started work on the covers for the arms and backs of my family's new as of two months ago recliners. The back pieces are finished, the arm pieces are next; I'm currently debating if I actually want to go to the trouble of making them chair-arm-shaped, or if I just want to make rectangles, the latter of which is what my parents were apparently expecting and would probably be satisfied with. No official end date for these, though it would be nice to have them done by the end of the month.

I am working on too many projects, and thus not seeing noticeable progress on any of them. Except the one I cast on this morning, so that I could at least look like I was going to get the two parts of that project done this weekend :)

I'm trying to remake parts of my website on neocities, managed to figure out the problems I had yesterday but ran into issues with using custom fonts. Did contact someone who seems to know how to use them though, we'll see if they answer xD Gonna move on with other stuff on the site in the meantime.

I'm a bit rusty on the english terms for knitting, but cast on is familiar, are you knitting or crocheting? I don't know if crochet also use 'cast on' lol

For this one, knitting. The other half is almost the same project, but in crochet. Cast on isn't used in that way in crochet to my knowledge, although the cast on method I use is very very similar to the method I used for doing the first row of the crochet, but I can't remember the name for it.

My main task over the weekend has been to continue writing away on that looong letter I received a few weeks ago. It is from a penpal who writes once a year and thus, the letter is 34 about A4 sized sheets long, i. e. 68 pages. I'm on sheet 22 (A5 size) of my reply by now and far from done. I started replying on 1 October and it usually takes me a month to reply but I hope to keep the time a little shorter this time. After I am done catching up on DW and comment writing here, I'll go write some more.

Ugh, yeah, I hate it when that happens: too many projects, therefore no visible progress on any of them.

But yay for getting some knitting done this morning! How is the knitting going right now, are you gonna be done with the two parts you wanted to get done this weekend?

Oooh, that exchange sounds like fun! I don't write anymore but I just subscribed to the comm to see the works and hopefully read some fun spooky stuff. Thanks for linking the comm here!

And best wishes for your work on it and also on the festivals!

Sounds like you got a lot of work done! I googled pockets for marble mazes, those sound like a ton of fun!

Are the recliner covers sewing or some other textile craft? The rectangle shapes sound way easier and quicker to do. How is it going with those? Best wishes for good progress this weekend. :D

Oh yay, fixing clothing is fabulous! I need to do that, too, but this weekend other creative tasks and household duties took priority. I might just go drop it off at the tailor's.

Happy to hear you're having fun with Inktober! Hope you did hit a nice balance between that challenge and grading and deadlines. ;-)

You're probably thinking about geocities, neocities is the new version. Made me feel nostalgic so I went with them (and also cus lost of pre-built stuff doesn't allow NSFW content) =D

Nah, I had heard of geocities going under and then neocities entering the scene but it was all so long ago, I thought for sure by now neocities would be history, too. Seems like wordpress is eating the competition. XD

Happy to hear neocities are still around and do allow NSFW content, yay!

I'm having a really good time making them! And since I make the maze itself entirely out of cloth, most of it scraps from other projects, it's pretty economical to boot 👍 Especially since I also get the marbles I use at the Dollar Tree. My current mazes are about 3"x4"/7.5cm x 10cm, and the marbles I use need 1"/2.5cm tunnels in the cloth, so there aren't a whole lot of designs for where I can make the marble go, but I've got five designs that work and that I'm pleased with. (By "pocket" here, I basically mean the entire cloth packet that will eventually make up the maze itself.)

The recliner covers are all sewing, with a side of ironing on interfacing. I haven't gotten any more done yet since I had work today, and decided to prioritize flipping the marble maze pockets right-side-out since I'm hoping to sell some this weekend, but I'm not going to completely rule out the possibility of getting at least rectangles done. I probably could crochet something, but honestly, at that scale I'd just prefer sewing anyway.

Thank you for the good wishes, and same to you!

Oh I see! Yeah, considering neocities is ad-free it takes a lot more effort to keep it running, for sure. I donate to them every month to help keeping it up, so I can also upload a lot more and more file formats. I'm enjoying neocities a lot.

That's why they don't have ads, advertisors like to demand no NSFW allowed, so I'm happy they're managing so far.

Oh, there is almost always something left out. I sent my last letter to her mid-September 2022 and received hers mid-September 2023 so there is by now more than a full year between writing the last and writing this reply. Almost always, I forget to include something or else I deem it not relevant anymore after, say, 6 months have passed. Else my reply would get even longer. ;-) I am currently on sheet 26 (A5 size) and expect to hit sheet 28, which is the last in that particular letter paper. That was the initial goal when starting and I'm pleased that I can manage it.

Today, when I went to check my po box, there were 3 new penpal letters so I don't know if I'll sneak some quick, short replies inbetween the writing sessions on the behemoth. Hm.

Oooh, that sounds like very cost-effective entertainment, both in the sewing and then in the solving. Yeah, I see that at that size, there are not that many different designs but yay for you finding 5 different ones anyway!

Oh good, sewing sounds like the easiest (but still not that easy!) means of doing the recliner covers. Best wishes for your progress under the week, if you have any time, and best wishes for next week's crafting and also the selling! :D

A group of us are yarn crafting a hundred years of rainfall for a set of locations. Colours are picked for so that there is a scale of 'very dry' (red), through dry (yellow), average (cream), wet (light blue) and 'very wet' (dark blue). Lots of people are knitting, but there is a felted one, and and woven one. This is part of a climate change awareness project.

Normally, I have a crochet project, and a quilting project as my 'active' and a couple of very simple knitting projects as my 'need something that takes no thinking' backups. The two knitting projects are a blanket I'm doing for myself (and have been for several years; it only comes out when I'm at home) and making squares for a friend who assembles blankets -- that is the one that can travel places in my backpack!

That sounds cool! Do you do it for this year or do you each have different years?

It's a great idea to have something small to travel with.Do you use magic loop for that? So the knitting needles take less room. My mum uses that more than regular needles lol, she uses the round needles (idk the english name, you know the ones with a string between them that you usually use for shirts and stuff?

The Will of Heaven, the final installment (or main storyline installment) of the Lin Moniao Epic (wuxia TTRPG turned... whatever this 460k monster is) is now finished and posting, so Minutia-R and I have been proofreading chapters as they go up, and got diverted into some self-indulgent writing that may or may not be added to the later chapters.

I finished my FMK Flash Exchange fic and am a little nervous about how it will be received once revealed, but done is done.

My Original Works Exchange fic has been revealed, though the authors have not yet been revealed. It has received no reaction from the recipient. Ah, well. My match had a fantastic list of prompts but they got what came out of my brain at the time. Can you tell I am nervous about that too. 😅 But I also received TWO delicious wlw pieces!

I made a Scum Villain prompt meme (on [community profile] airplane_wrote_this) which I hope may produce some fun stuff but also stay somewhat contained.

Minutia and I have been trying to worldbuild and have named some characters for the next project, but it is slow work and I sort of feel like I have to ease myself into it so I don't spook myself too much with the amount of work it will be; I'm also lining up some research into stuff like real historical empires (Persian right now) and realistic map-making. I just want to make it good, you know? Or at least not distractingly, embarrassingly bad.

Ooh, that sounds good! It is my dream to one day have my own website but the three main problems are: a) lack of time, b) don't know what to even put on it and c) here in Germany, if you even remotely intend to make money off something, you have to have a full wallet name and valid mailing address in your "Impressum" and that scares me. Some bloggers get away with not having it but they have a bunch of legalese on their website instead and of course always have to be ready to prove that there is no income being made at all. Ugh. There are also companies that offer po boxes without disclosing full name but of course, that is a for-pay service, too.

Oh damn, that sounds like a pain and stressful. I guess if you just did it for fun on a place where you'd have to go out of the way to make money at all? But yeah I wouldn't wanna doxx myself either. As for content, some people just use neocities as a diary, or pics of cats. Someone even just has a pic of a polygon rat, that's it, nothing else lmao

Late comment is late.

Not gonna lie, the polygon rat sounds amazing! ♥

Yeah, if I wanted to make a purely fannish site with no connection to any fundraising etc. ever, I could even under German rules. But the whole thing just puts me off making any website. Sigh.

It sounds like fun how much variety of content there is on Neocities, though!

How is your site there coming along currently? :-)
