(I did my federal taxes last weekend, but couldn't do my state ones until they mailed me a PIN, so it's my priority tomorrow)

Ooooof. I remember a problem like that came up a couple years ago. Did you change states or something?

No, but they rolled out a new free program that's through the California tax board, instead of various tax companies (fuck you TurboTax). It should only take like fifteen minutes - I think that's about how long the federal took, so it's no biggie. I just don't want to forget so I'm putting in all the reminders.

There is an immediate process to get one's identity validated through one of the credit agencies, but it didn't want to work for me for whatever reason (possibly because I have them locked down? I dunno)

Oooooh, nice going California. Reminders are a good idea.

All the tax stuff over here gets shoved into its own folder... Because stars know it will be done at the last minute, and that is not when you want to be trying to find stuff.

And MAJOR 'fuck you' to Turbotax. They are actually doing free filing again this year, after getting chewed out over false advertising.
